website confusing?

I finally received my order and am soaping cool water men, looked for
the usage rate and and it listed 20% for lotion, and m&p, and cp?? Looked at reviews and questions, and people were talking about the 4% vanilla content....but this for is listed as 0% vanilla!

Is there a trick know I'm missing for using their website?

Strange. For soap, generally most FO usage rate is between .7-1 oz PPO. At any rate, most of the "water scents are pretty strong from what I remember, so I would use the .7 PPO

Now I'm confused too!

For example: Desired smell is 5%, making MP soap is 3%, and the IFRA max use is 15%. You should not use more than 3% in your product. This 3% is the lowest of all of those numbers.
Maximum Product Base Guidelines:
MP Soap: 3%
CP, HP, CPOP Soap: 6%
Lotions and Scrubs: 1 – 2%

BUT on page 1 it states:

IFRA Maximum Skin Exposure Levels:
Body Lotion: 20.0% Body Wash: 20.0% Soap: 20.0%
Face Cream: 20.0% Body Powder: 20.0% Baby: 20.0%
Perfume: 20.0% Deodorant: 0.4% Lip: 0.0%

The 20% refers to the IFRA guidelines for safe maximum skin exposure levels for that particular FO in lotions and soap. It's not, however, a recommendation for how much of the FO to actually use in a lotion or soap formula. Using 20% could cause any number of problems such as seizing, separation, and/or leakage, etc....

I personally don't like to go over 6% max FO in any of my soaps or lotions, which is approx. 1 oz. ppo. Normally, I use less than that, but 6% is my absolute max.

Wow. I did not know there was a difference; all this time I've been a stickler for the fo usage charts because of safety, but they have more to do with soap mechanics, not body safety? So that means that when I come across a fo that's rather light...I can throw in a little extra...if I'm willing to risk some soap issues?

Thanks again IrishLass!
