aloe vera powder, when reconstituted to juice has a pH of 3-5 so some of it will react with the lye in cold process. I have not figured out a way to calculate that though so there is some guess work. It also is a lather booster. Most people put it in the lye water and let it reconstitute that way.
 
@KiwiMoose I haven't used the powder so I'm not entirely sure, but I'd reconstitute it with distilled water and use as the liquid in my lye solution.

@Andrew Many people, myself included, have used aloe juice as a water replacement with no adjustment to the lye without any issues. I would think reconstituted powder would yield the same results.

i am sure that there is not much of an effect on the lye, however if you are using different percentages other than to reconstitute water or are looking for a specific type of lather then you have to take into account the minor effects the powder will have.
