Well all kinds of things went haywire - for the last coupla weeks I have been hit by a soap-curse-horriblix, there was a batch that was too soft, another one seized, another one -colour morphed and two days ago there was even a little shape-shifting.....I'm not sure what is going on - I have always had a great soaping run - but recently - sheesh - must be that darn phases of the moon thing again!

Last week I said I would post pics once I built my lightbox, and so her they finally are.

1. The bar that said I can - and it did.....eventually - it was very soft for a while and slightly sticky, it still feels a tad clammy - but I may just be imagining!

2. The Epileptic - instant seizure! Which came out all well rounded in the end, and infact smoother than my regular non seizing bars??? Have no idea why!

Cinnamon Orange

3. The Chameleon - went almost black during gel!
Laven-dula

4. The Shape Shifter - came to proper trace - and then when poured went into transparent liquidy state - (I'm thinking it was the honey)[/i][/b]

Rooibos Cherry

5. Salt and Tears - this one was supposed to be a light mauve - it turned a terrible toilet cistern cake pink - then it started to weep on a humid day.

Salted Patchouli

6. OMG - it's not poodoo - too bad at how awful this looks cos it smells superb - I am never using that purple that is actually pink again, neither am I using that green that goes brown!

(POODOO now available and is signing autographs!)

6. Neo - the One - no problems at all - smells fab and smooth as stone

Macha (Green Tea)

I used Cypress Green mica from TKB today and it turned brown also!
Hey, looks like it all turned out beautiful in the end....
nice soap...and lots of it!

Thanks Castorfan (btw i'm a castor fan too!)

I have just realised - that my spate of soap mishaps also could be from the line of FO's I used - I figure this because I have never had any disasters prior to using those FO's. DOH!!!

Guess I'll be making lots and lots of room spray!!!! Infact I may never have to buy room freshener again!

they look wonderful! I like that pink one, I don't think it looks icky!

Love your photos and your soap!! They all came out really pretty!! I had gremlins last week too. Got a gooey oil layer batch, and a riced one. Grrr. Looks like you shooed 'em off a while now. :)

All your soap looks fabulous , the pictures are beautiful . I think a touch of voodoo musta hit the poodoo if it will not upload for you.

Would you mind sharing how you made your lightbox? Your soaps are beautiful! I like the pink one, too, and the one that seized.

I bought cyclomethicone from ebay. Haven't tried it yet as spray
for the sheets, but it's great hair conditioner:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Cyclomethicone-Sili ... .m14.l1262

Linen Spray used for spraying (use a fine mist sprayer)

Add 1 teaspoon (100 drops) of a favorite essential oil to 6 oz. of Cyclomethicone
Pour essential oils and cyclomethicone into a bottle, cap and shake.

I think they all turned out beautiful. And your photos are fabulous. Very nice work.

Thanks guys for the encouragement -

The light box was relatively simple (compared to soapmaking!)

I just got a carboard box turned it on it's side, then cut out rectangular holes on the left and right sides (short sides), and a rectangular hole on the top, and the back (long sides), and left one side as is (that is where the soap gets placed on.

I painted the inside of the of the box with white PVA. THen I lined the top and the one long side with iron on paper facing, And then sort of hung and clipped White organza to the inside of the box.

I used 4 lamps in total to illuminate - one desk lamp the went over the top, and three bed lamps on the three sides.

The organza and paper facing diffuse the harshness of direct light and gives it a nice sort of warm glow.

Hope this helps!

I have to go to work in like 3 minutes and I am still on SMF - I have to wean myself off of here!

P.S I dont know if you noticed, but a cool side effect is that the organza will reflect any colour from the item and you sort of get a muted version of the soap colour on the background organza!

All of your soaps are totally FABULOUS! I absolutley love the cherry one. It glows. I love the salt bar too. Pink! I love them all! Great pictures too.

That cherry red bar is fantastic, I cant get red for love nor money, mine always comes out pink, well done!! really beautiful soaps.

Gekko,

That's almost exactly how I made my lightbox - except mine isnt as neat or pretty....but it does the job!
