Would it be possible to use cinder stone(aka scoria) as an abrasive similar to pumice? If so what would be a decent quantity for a 500 gram batch. If not why?
The pumice used for cosmetics and soap is finely milled to a powder. My concern about scoria is it wouldn't be fine enough and could possibly damage the skin. Where did you get the scoria and how fine is it?
The scora/cinder is all over the place where I live, pretty much everybody(in the area) uses it for some reason(even decoration). It is still in chunks but should be pretty easy to get it down to a powder with a hammer and morter & pestle. I think that I might just make a very small test batch first and if it doesn't work out no big loss.
Good luck! Even if it's too rough for your skin, it still might work well for on the heels if you have a problem with thickened, calloused skin on them.
