Adding sugar

I thought the lye solution needed to be warm to help melt the honey.

What I do is mix my honey in a small bit of my batch water that's been warmed up...just enough water to thin out the honey to a watery consistency.... then I add it to my cooled lye solution. It mixes right in quite effortlessly......... but fair warning- along with the heat and color change, it will exude a deep caramelized scent, which mellows out to a lovely, mild, Bit 'O Honey candy-like scent when my soap is done. I wish that scent would last forever, but alas, it gradually disappears to nothing over time, so I've taken to scenting my honey soaps with Peak's Wild Mtn Honey FO, which smells awesome.

Does added sugar reduce the shelf life of CP soap or contribute to rancidity?

This post is almost 3 years old. You would be better off starting a new thread to get more responses. But, no, Sugar in your water dissolved before adding your lye poses no problem.
