Hi, I am Jill and am new to all things soap-related, but not to all things goat-related. Just seemed to be a natural extension of having fresh goat milk to use some for soap. I am a bit daunted to try a scratch base first time out because of the lye factor, but eventually would like to be able to make everything from scratch. Anyway, my question is whether or not I can add goat milk to a M&P base. So many suppliers have goat milk bases for M&P, but I would like to just get a base that I could add my own milk to, if possible. Any information from this wonderful forum would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

My experience and the experience of many other mp soapers is that the milk will go bad in your soap. A good rule of thumb for mp soaps is, if the additive would go bad sitting out on your counter, then it will go bad in your mp soap.

Goats milk is great in cp soap. A little stinky while making it, but when it's all done it's nice and creamy :)

Thank you so much, Genny, for your quick response!!! That is so helpful. I will NOT add my milk then to these batches, and work my way up to the cp method. Thanks again :D
