Although some people do it isn't necessary to add extra glycerin to CP soaps. Some list it on the ingredients because glycerine is created in the saponification process and is therefore present in the soap, but there is some disagreement about that particular labeling practice.
Though I understand that you're referring to adding glycerin during the process, you might find this sidenote interesting.
I'm a wetshaver, and always use a brush and shaving soap in the morning. Often times, I'll make "UberLather," a mix of my usual soap and a few drops of glycerin. The result is a ton of lather.
Like I said in that post, I added 1/4 oz glycerin to a 2 lb soap recipe and it sweated horribly from the glycerin. I know it wasn't a humidity issue, because I made it in the winter here in Wisconsin and our air is very dry.
Also, one time long ago I was mixing some colorants in glycerin & accidentally dropped a few ounces of glycerin into a small 1 lb soap batch. That soap never got fully hard because it took forever just to get to the soft cream cheese stage & it would just sweat & sweat.
I also forgot to say, that some soapers list the glycerin from the colorants on their labels (I do) & like new12soap said, some list it because glycerin is present from saponification.
I add glycerin with my colorants in many cases. I don't add a lot of it, but it is there. I mix it with my oxides and micas. I have not had a problem using a small amount of either in my soaps, and I generally do batches that are a little over a pound.
