Adding botanicals/spices/etc. to rebatched soap?

Soooo I'm about to go ahead and rebatch my goat milk soap, and am wondering... now that the saponification process is over (no zap today! ), if I add dried lavender buds to the rebatch, will they still turn black?

The soap is scented with lavender sage FO, and I already added some ground sage. I think it'd look pretty with lavender buds in it, but I don't want to do it if they're going to turn black!

Anyone know?

Hi Ashley they will still turn brown - I grind mine up before adding to soap to keep the "scratchiness" down.

I grind up mine as well and they look really good! I add ground up peppermint it holds very well.

Turning brown isn't a bad thing though imo. I actually like it like that. It can still hold a little of its color and if the soap is colored it looks fine.
