So...

I've been moaning all day about how cold the house is and how the soap for the Dutch pour sets up too soon, and people have been very kindly helping me brainstorm.

I've also been trying to make transparent soap for the first time, and it actually came out very nicely.

But

It doesn't want to set up 🤣 I had it in the fridge for a while and it's slowly growing a transparent skin, but basically still liquid. So I decided to take this as a message from the fates, throw caution to the wind, and have a stab at an idea I've been mulling on.

The result may not be everyone's idea of a beautiful soap, but it's a triumph in my mind!

The blue/green swirly is entirely contributed by the slab background. The bodies of the jellyfish (yes, that's what they're meant to be) are semi-transparent soap dough rolled out very thin and placed on the slab.

The orange tentacles or whatever they're officially called are mica dispersed in a mix of the transparent soap batter and a little extra glycerine, dropped using a pipette then blown using the hairdryer.

Can't wait to see what this looks like when it finally sets up!
