Hello all,

I am a new member, and I would like to say hi to all. Recently, I have had a problem with a new recipe. It turned to be so sticky, and even after 3 days it was still sticky, so I couldn't umold it. Eventhough, I used shea butter and beef lard total of 40%, water 38%, water:lye (2.5:1). Does anyone have any idea if I can improve it? Should I use more butter, castor oil, or palm oil? And if so, what the total of hard oils should I use? Or should I reduce the water percentage? As a side note, my SF is 5%. Thanks all.

Would you mind sharing your full recipe and technique? That would help everyone to get a good idea of what happened. :)
Almond sweet oil 15%
Coconunt oil 25%
Olive oil 20%
Shea butter 25%
Tallow beef 15%
Water 190g
Lye 76g

I used cold process, but it turned to be so sticky.

If you did cold processed then yes, the water is too high. Use the lye concentration setting and set it to 33%.
I will try it. Thanks for your reply!!

@DW2088 , is your soap STICKY or is it just SOFT?
To me, I don't see anything weird about your recipe that would cause stickiness. It does look like you used a higher percentage of water. It would take longer for your soap to feel nice and hard. But, to me, feeling soft isn't the same a feeling sticky. If it's just soft, I agree with @KiwiMoose . try less water.
