So I thought I had a Masterpiece with my first funnel swirl. (See the first picture) Then I went to cut it......It's Crumbling!!!! I've quit until I get some input from you guys!!! Here's the recipe.
5% Castor
15%Crisco
30%Coconut(76 Deg solid)---this could be part of the problem as my oil is not labeled and I guessed on this????
40%Olive
10%Palm Kernel Flakes

2TBL + 1 TSP of Yuzu FO
1/2 scoop teal color (From a soap store, it was their store brand)

Water:Lye Ratio 2.6:1

I followed everything the lye calculator said, I really don't know what happend!!!

I don't make CP so I'm no help here .... but that soap is gorgeous! I hope everyone can help you figure it out.

What a pretty blue! I love it! Too bad it got crumbly!

How much lye did you use? Was it rock hard when you cut it? I didn't run it through soap calc, but maybe it's hard?

Milla--No It's not "rock" hard. I just made it last night...Should I leave it set for another few days befor I try and cut it again??

I'm stumped. Hopefully someone else will know. Maybe it was the color? who knows!

It's a 2lb. batch. and HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!!!!(I've never been zapped befor and Just went to see) Yes, yes it zaps......but I just made it last night(Tuesday the8th)

My first thought whenever I see crumbly soap is that it's lye heavy.

edited because I can't spell.

It looks lye heavy to me , but I am going to check the recipe out on soapmaker , be right back .

The recipe checks out okay , I had one batch do that and it was extra zappy , it looked like yours does . I will never know what happened , I cross check when I weigh and add to my soap pot . I hope someone else has an answer for you .. Bummer !! You could leave it and see what happens . I had to pitch mine , it never changed just got harder.
ETA more info .

So did you just pictch it??? Maybe keep it for pieces to mix in with another batch or is it just bad and cut my losses and at least I learned to funnel?

have you tried cutting with a hot cutter (warmed with hot, hot water)?

man, hope it turns out! that's really pretty!

do any of the additives you used require addition of more water?

My color used 1/2 a TBL of water......No I havn't tried to heat up my knife. Maybe I will try that tomorrow. I think I will let it sit tonight.....I don't want to lost it!!!!!!

It won't hurt to let it cure some more and see what happens . We can never totally predict what soap might do  . You might be able to add some to another batch .

I had a crumbly batch before. I used a rose fo. I started cutting and it just crumbled to pieces. So I put it in the crockpock to rebatch. Put it in the mold, cut the next day and still crumbly... It could be the FO, that's what I ended up blaming mine on. Though I didn't have any zap.
