Like the title says, I’m really, really, really horrible with math. And I have 40x aloe vera powder. In order to reconstitute it is it 40 parts of the aloe powder to one part water? Or or 40 parts water to one part aloe powder?
Thank you in advance. I always appreciate all the help that I get from this forum💋

Interesting, the Makesy link posted above by @MelissaG says 40 parts water to one part AVJ powder.

I am not sure which way is correct, but I'm going with the easy numbers every time (and that would not be 39). 😁

Seriously, if you do use 40:1 instead of 39:1, it seems unlikely that the extra 1 part of water will make any difference to how the AVJ works in your soap recipe. ;)

I just went with makesy because this is what they do so it would seem odd for it to be wrong.

I checked to confirm the "one less than the concentration" number in the Lotioncrafter formulation guides; for instance, for their 100X aloe powder, the directions are:
"Reconstitution: If desired, add one part Aloe Vera 100X Powder to 99 parts water (add appropriate preservative for long term storage)."
But I agree with @AliOop, and doubt if that small amount would matter in a batch of soap.

Don't worry, math can be tricky! For 40x aloe vera powder, it means you need to use 40 parts water to 1 part powder,So if you have 1 gram of powder, add 40 grams of water. This should give you the right consistency. Also, remember to mix well until the powder dissolves. If you're having trouble dissolving it, you might try using warmer water. Good luck with your soap making! :)

I use 200x aloe concentrate and I honestly don't care if it's a little more or less than I need. My scales don't measure less than a gram, so for 630g water I use either 3 or 4g powder (whatever the scales get to first) and I've not had a problem yet.
