I love this FO! It smells so good, the colors turned out better this time, but it still got a little thick on me. I don't think the colors mixed as well as they could have either....what's the best way to incorporate the oxides? And does temp factor in how fast u get thick? Should I try warmer or cooler to see if it helps, I soaped at about 95 degrees and I only stick blended for a min or two got a light trace then separated for colors and mixed them with a spoon.

Thanks for looking :)

My most favorite fo ever. Your soap looks pretty :)

Oxides mix well in oil. For oxides, I mix a little bit in a little oil until there's not clumps. Then I take a bit of my soap batter & mix it in my oil/oxide mix. Mix it good & then mix that in with the rest of the batter that I want it colored with.

Temperature does factor into thickness. The warmer you soap, the faster you get to trace. Yet, if you soap too cool, you have a chance of your sold oils/butters resolidifying & giving you false trace.

Thanks!

Genny, that's kinda what I did. Do you put a little oil first then some oxide and then mix until the clumps are out? Cuz I put my oxide in first then added a bit of oil an couldn't seem to get all the clumps out.

I mix my oxides in glycerin, but you can use oils also. I just use a bit of glycerin and a spoon to mix them and then pour them into the soap batter. I forgot to say that I really like this soap, I think the colors look lovely. I really want to try Kentish Rain FO, another thing to add to a long list of things I want ;-)

I love my little mixer from BB. For mixing oxides, I pour a little oil in a small paper cup, then the oxide. I've tried putting the oxide in first but I can never seem to get all of it from the bottom of the cup. Mixing the oil with the little mixer makes it work harder than when I mix my ultramarines in water (because of the thickness of the oil) and sometimes I worry that I will burn the motor up, but it has more than paid for itself already. I use it with every batch - even my plain, uncolored batches. I put sugar and salt in every batch and I mix them with warm water first to dissolve them - the little mixer is great for that.

Mindy your soap looks great - I love those colors together. :)
