    Insurance Question

Thanks Lindy! I forgot to mention in the previous post that I am in the US. Yes, the IBN is what I am leaning towards right now. Was wondering if anyone has any experiences with IBN and their insurance program or any other insurance carriers?

    Insurance Question

Thanks for the quick reply Lindy! I wouldn't be selling soap though, mostly body items like lotions. Would I still be able to go through the Guild?

    Insurance Question

Just a general question, who do you guys like to use for insurance? The IBN or buy directly through a company? If through a company, who do you like? The Guild is out for me since I don't really make soap. Mostly bath/body items. I'm starting to look into this for maybe next year...

    Food Grade Oils In Lotions/Creams

I was wondering what your opinion of using food grade oils for making lotions and creams? I have always just purchased my oils off the internet from the well known suppliers, but sometimes (especially with shipping costs) it is cheaper and faster to get from your local store. I know this...

    Shea butter question

I only thought about the high melting point because they seem to advertise that there is less possible problems with grainy mixtures occurring. I never had any problems with grain in lotion or creams with shea butter, but I never used a high percentage either like 25% or 30% like I am thinking...

    Shea butter question

Also, I should note I am thinking of making a high percentage shea lotion soon. Like maybe 25%-30% (this will be the highest ever used for me in something) and was wondering if the high melting point would be better for something like this or can I get away with just regular refined? I noticed...

    Shea butter question

I recently discovered something known as "high melting point" shea butter. I have always just used regular shea butter, refined of course, in my recipes for lotions and creams. It seems like it is more for the use of balms or very high percentage shea butter products. I was wondering if you...

Good double boiler to recommend and is it necessary?

Usually when making lotions/creams I just melt and heat everything in a microwave until reached the necessary temps. However, I think I am going to change over and start using the stove to melt my butters and heat oils. With saying that, anyone recommend a good double boiler? I found these...

    Any good stick blender recommendations

Thanks for the link to the discussion! Glad to hear yours is still going strong. After reviewing the discussion, I think I will go with a Cuisinart. I will try to pick up this weekend.

    Any good stick blender recommendations

I think my stick blender is starting to go. It's a Hamilton Beach that I have had for about 3 years now. Got it for a good price (free from a relative :D) and as of late when I use it has been giving off a burning. So I am looking to replace. Anybody have any good recommendations?

How do you estimate shelf life of your finished lotion/cream

Thanks for the reply! I have been using cocoa butter lately a lot and I always make sure to use a preservative like germall plus. Usually it is used up within 3 months, but I am thinking about making a larger batch to store for longer. I think I will add some vitamin e next time too. Got a...

How do you estimate shelf life of your finished lotion/cream

I was wondering how you guys out there estimate how long your finished lotion/cream will last? Currently, I make small batches so they don't last very long because I use them up and just make more. But if I wanted to make a larger batch, what is a good method to determine shelf life? Thanks!

    Bacteria/Mold Testing Kit For Lotions

Ha! I actually thought about that, but I dunno...might be better to let the labs handle it. Unless someone has some good skin care microbiology links!
