Today, I remembered how much I hate using freezer paper to line molds 😂 I've been spoiled by my silicone-lined boxes. But it is nice that my husband can throw together a wood box for me when I need a specific size for something.

I usually get 2lbs for $13 at Cierra Candle and Soap Supplies but I can pick up in person so I don’t have to pay shipping on it. I did buy the 16 2lb bottles of Essential Depot on Amazon though, even with the shipping it’s still much cheaper per oz.

They don’t all lol, I’ve found that some suppliers have far more useful labels than others.

I'm leaning more heavily into lard soaps, and replacing 10% of my olive oil with avocado oil.. hard to believe that's cheaper now! I like the feel of lard soap better than an heavy OO soap anyway though so I would do that even if OO prices magically came back down.

I just got some sorbitol and sodium gluconate in! Now I'm about to go raid my fragrance oil selection and decide what soap I want to experiment with first with it...

I got her book too, it's quite lovely! To clarify though, she masterbatches a 50/50 lye solution, and when she makes soap with it she adds more liquid. It looked like most of her recipes hovered around 1.8:1 to 2:1 in the end.

I saw some really nice ones on Facebook the other day, the poster said she got them from Gator Packaging.

I'm late to this, just catching up on the posts from before I hopped back in hehe. I participate in them, though I missed the last couple. It's a lot of fun, I learn a lot and it makes me try things I probably wouldn't have otherwise.

Well. It at least turned out much better than I expected for how wrong it went.

Oop, experienced my first really bad case of a soap seizing when I added the FO. I *knew* it accelerated too, I got impatient and didn't let things cool enough 😭 Lesson learned, and boy am I glad I was only making a 20oz test loaf. I got it into the mold but that bad boy was chunky like applesauce.

I don't buy any fragrances I can't see an IFRA and MSDS for. Maybe I am picky and paranoid but I look at every single one and decide if I want the fragrance or not based on those.

Today I cut beveled and stamped two loaves of soap, yay! Next up, photographing them. And then I suppose I should wash all my containers and tools so I can make more soap. My least favorite part lol
