    FO Percent Usage in Lotion

I usually scent lotions up to 0.8 or 1% max for body lotions, and up to 1.8% for massage bars.

Thank you Artemis. It's alive ! Reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes ;)

    Is this a volcano ?

I see, thank you :) and I thought about increasing the SF up to 7 or 10%, but because of the sesame oil I wasn't sure... do you think I could ? My husband doesn't like it when the soap feels oily, which was the case with a salt bar I made earlier (80% coconut, and 20% superfat). Glad it wasn't...

    Is this a volcano ?

Hi all ! I had some left-over oils + I wanted to check what a high-percentage CO soap would feel like with the addition of sesame oil + shea. Here is my recipe: - CO 55% - Sesame 15% -Shea butter 15% - Almond oil 15% 5% SF 33% lye concentration soaped at about 45°C Covered with cling wrap and...

Please tell me about salt bars

Thank you @DeeAnna . I will do so and practise my "zen attitude" - or hide the soap !

Please tell me about salt bars

Hi ! This thread was so interesting that I got into it straight away. I made a salt bar, which I have tried yesterday after a four week cure. I found it a little too cleansing in the way that it left my face a bit dry and "tight" - I have sensitive skin - while it left a slight "oily" feel on...

    Surfactants...

Don't despair ! It seems like a moutain from afar, but you can climb it step by step and things get into place slowly. We've all been there, and I still am, but trying hard to stay positive :) This forum is great for a bit a reassurance when we need it ;)

    Surfactants...

;) I know ! I guess we all do the same ! It is a matter of finding what we like to make the best, but also something that is not made by the hundreds locally ! In my case, there are sooo many soap makers where I live, that I gathered I wasn't going to be any better than them, and therefore the...

    Surfactants...

I agree Tara, this forum is such a great source of information. I am only starting my business, and so far I make lotion bars for the body, face and massages - I make soap only for my family and friends. My aim is to add a range of powder products such as a powder face cleanser for normal skin...

Can you advise on some tutorials using surfactants ?

    Surfactants...

SCI SCG is liquid, and I use it now that SCI has been declared not compatible with natural and organic certification. Funny enough, I would need a powder surfactant for a cleansing powder formulation, so my SCG being liquid is a pain for me ! I have to mix it at high speed forever for it to not...

    Surfactants...

Hi Tara08, I would also be interested in this issue... I have only tried Sodium Cocoyl glutamate and I have just received a sample of decyl glucoside, which I haven't tried yet. It will have to wait until the end of august (holidays !).

New to Soapmaking: Will this recipe work?

I agree with @Saponificarian about the palm oil replacement. Cocoa butter makes a lovely soap, however its price has tripled in the last few months - worldwide "shortage" also called speculation...
