    Old Lady Lavender

Beautiful soap. I really like that colour purple. Ifyou don't mind me asking, did you use mica to colour it?

    NDA order came!!

Your welcome. I wish I would have read up on Birch Sweet before I ordered the 100ml bottle. I have no idea what to do with it now - ideas?

    NDA order came!!

I love love love NDA's EO's. I've bought quite a few from them in the past and have soaped with all of them except the Birch Sweet. I did a bit of research on it and it is known to be very toxic in small doses (as is Wintergreen) so I'm staying away from both in my soap. Here's a thread on in...

Ylang Ylang & Lavender and Bay Rum

Thanks for the lovely comments. I experiment with a lot of different recipes and I don't think I've done a single batch of soap using the exact same recipe! I really liked the way the Bay Rum recipe soaped but I did have to work quickly to get the black mixed in. I wanted a nice light swirl...

Ylang Ylang & Lavender and Bay Rum

I thought I'd share a couple of pics of my soap. I just made a light tent (very cheap) and am playing around with it so I can send some nice pictures of my soap to my sister in Taiwan. This one is Ylang Ylang & Lavender. There used to be rose petals on top but I didn't press them down...

    Could FO's be causing DOS?

I've been making soap for almost a year now and have been really happy with all my results - until now. Two of my soap batches have developed DOS after 3 months and both are from the same recipe using different FO's (from the same company). Here is my recipe: Olive Oil 32 oz (46.5%)...

Has anyone tried this method for making milk soap?

This is really bugging me. I can't figure out how they are using 26.5% goats milk in their recipe. I emailed them and we'll see what they reveal to me. What I can't figure out is that if they are adding milk to the oils and then adding a 50/50 lye/water solution (I'm assuming it must be 50/50...

Has anyone tried this method for making milk soap?

All of their soaps have a natural colour that varies from brown to beige to cream. As far as I know, they don't add any colourants or clays to their soap. My husband and I bought some of their soaps last year while on vacation and I really loved them - very hard, very bubbly and non-drying...

Has anyone tried this method for making milk soap?

I've been experimenting with gm soap for a while now and add the lye to frozen/slushy gm. However, I read about a different method that a soap company uses where they add fresh goats milk to the melted oils. Once this has reached a butter-like consistency, they add the lye that has been...

    Comments on recipe?

What percentage of castor would you suggest to replace the soy/canola - I'm assuming not 14%? I've used 10% - mostly in shampoo bars - and found it quite sticky when unmolding.

How many bars do you have curing?

I was thinking that my batches were a little large:> I looked at WSP website the other day and thought their molds looked nice. I just love my nizzy mold so much and can do such nice swirling and textured tops that I hate to give it up! I guess I'll just have to save for a smaller mold.

    Comments on recipe?

Thanks for the responses. I don't really have a great reason for using canola oil other than I haven't tried it yet:) I agree about the castor oil. I usually add it to most of my recipes but I'm running low and decided to use shea as my "special" ingredient. Still playing around. And...

How many bars do you have curing?

Just thought I'd put this out there cause I'm so curious. How many bars do you have curing right now? I have approximately 140 and I'm not selling (yet). And while I'm at it - how many bars do you make in a batch? I make 20 at a time. They are about 5-5.5 oz each. Am I nuts or average?

    Comments on recipe?

Hi! I'm really new to soapmaking (this will be my 22nd batch of soap). So far everything has turned out really well (rap wood). I haven't used canola oil in any of my recipes so far and would like some feedback/opinions on this new recipe I'd like to try today. I'm going for a scent that...
