    Soap wire cutter

I bought Bud’s multibar cutter about 4 years ago. It is very well made, worth the money!

New to coloring bar soap, looking for help

This is my first attempt using Himalayan Rhubarb Root from Anne George's. The color in person is more cherry red than in the picture. I measured 2.5 teaspoons of rhubarb into 250 g olive oil in a mason jar. Put the mason jar in a crockpot on high for several hours. Then let it sit at room...

    Altering recipe when using scents

Me too! I've started adding my EO's (I don't use FO's) to the fat mixture before adding the lye, except for a few that misbehave like clove, but that is another story!

Glycerin ("or lack thereof") in dual lye shaving soap

Yes stearic acid is a pain to work with because the melt point is so high. After making a batch try letting the inner crockpot have a good long soak in hot water to remove the residue on the side.

    Folded Orange EO

Regular sweet orange essential oil will stay if you use it in hot process if that is an option for you.

    Mystery DOS solved?

I would advise against it. My kitchenaid introduced lots of bubbles into soap batter, and the part of the bell that screws into the body of the blender broke apart easily. I replaced it with a Braun which works much better.

    DOS?

You might want to pre-wet your clay in some of your liquid oils before mixing into the batter so it disperses better. I put a couple of tablespoons of oil (after it has been weighed out so the superheat doesn't change) and mix with the clay then let sit for at least an hour before adding to the...

Google Sheet alternative to Craftybase or Soapmaker Pro

I’m referring to both raw materials and finished product. It would be nice to have a program where I could set my stocking levels and alert me when I need to buy or make more.

Google Sheet alternative to Craftybase or Soapmaker Pro

I loved Soapee - it was so easy to use and allowed for dual lye and additives that Soapcalc does not. I downloaded the Soapee file but never had the time to look at it so I appreciate your work! I have never used Craftybase or Soapmaker. Instead, my inventory is managed on Wix and then I...

Thought I had conquered DOS... it's back! At a loss :(

I sell at farmers markets and have seen that bars that are in the sun and heat have may get DOS. I requested a move to the shady side of the market, and only take a little more than I think will sell that day. It helps a lot. Since you are CPOPing the loaves, maybe they are getting a little too...

Hot process soap making - soap getting too thick/hard

I do both HP and CP. For HP I recommend stick blending like DeeAnna explains. Then as it is cooking stir every once in awhile with a spoon. Are you adding sodium lactate or yogurt after it’s done cooking? They help with the fluidity and make it easier to get into the mold.

    Soap Analysis Please

I agree that it’s dried soap bits. If you add your eo or fo after the soap is done cooking, warm the eo or fo a bit so it mixes in a little better.

Kind of a weird question about moulds

Could you send me the direct link to their Etsy shop? Etsy's search bar is of no use.

Anyone else finding buying on Amazon frustrating these days? - Halloween

I’ve noticed the same thing for the past year or so. Have had to return some things and I never did that before.

    Making custom silicone molds

I forgot to mention the castings would be made with TPU on a 3d printer.

    Making custom silicone molds

I would like to make some custom silicone molds for some of my soap projects. I am lucky that my local library has a Maker Lab where I can make castings for the molds but I will have to pour and cure the silicone on my own. If you have made your own molds before, do you have any tips or tricks...

    Gifting/donating soap with DOS

If that happened to my soap, I would cut the tops off - if it is truly DOS it will continue to spread if you don't cut it off. I would donate most of it, but tell the charity to use it quickly. The rest I would save tor personal use. FYI ... I donate unsellable soap to my local food pantry. It's...
