    Cutting Salt Bar Question

    Regular cutter OK I made salt bars for the first time. I suggest cutting when they are still hot (but firm).Too long and they will be to hard to cut, I learned this the hard way. ( had to rebatch) I used my regular stainless steel cutter and no problem. Good Luck

    Liquid Chlorophyll I've been told liquid chlorophyll produces a very nice green. Cant say from experience, but I am going to try. Seems you can buy in vitamin and health stores. I like to stick with natural colorant too.

    Live and learn Hey carebear, life would be boring without our little traumas! I just finished rebatching the last of the soap and it's really pretty, I used Lavender eo and a bit of alkanet root, its a pretty mauve. Cant wait to try, hope they are as great as everyone is raving about

    Mized at around 110 Just adding to my first post. Used 80% coconut, castor and corn oil. Mixed at 110.

    Less water? Xraygirl- you suggest less water, please explain why that would help. I'm new to soap making so just trying to understand. If the water evaporates as soap cures then why would less water help.

    Recipe 28oz olive oil, 15oz crisco, 4.5oz castor oil, 14oz water and 6 oz lye. Coconut oil is difficult to find in my area ( I live in a small town), the other oils are readily available. Thanks for the info on the crochet soap dish, I just might try one.

    Crochet soap dish Wow! a crochet soap dish, that sounds really interesting. I love to crochet, can you explain more, how to make for example. Does anyone think I should try a different receipe, or perhaps try a better one that produces a hardier bar. Thanks guys for your help.

    At least 4 weeks I made it May 17th. Now mind you, we have 4 people using the shower daily. Maybe its just a very damp moist environment that's the culprit.
