What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Welcome to the addiction! I haven’t made a salve yet but have incorporated calendula infused oil into a lotion bar.

Experiment: Scent Fixing & Gel Phase

I was wondering how you managed the lavender buds. I have read if you put them in soap they turn brown and look like mouse 💩. Breaking them up is a great idea.

SMF November 2024 Challenge - Hello Yellow!

I am loving everyone’s entries! Such great soaps. @GuacamoleSalad a slurry is just a mixture of essential oils, kaolin clay, castor (or another) oil, and in this case, tea. Mix it up and let it sit for at least 24 hours. The theory is the slurry helps anchor the essential oil scent so it...

November 2024 SMF Challenge - Hello Yellow! Entry Thread

I had a slurry mixed up that I wanted to turn into soap before the middle of this month so that greatly influenced my choices for this soap. The soap is fragranced with orange EO in a slurry made with Bengal Spice Tea, basically a Chai on steroids. The tea was run through a grinder and sifted...

    Good to know, thank you.

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Me too. I am a child of the 80’s and still love some of the old New Wave music.

    Soap wire cutter

I also have a Buds multi bar cutter that I love. I started out with a cutter similar to a cheese cutter and could never get consistent straight cuts. I’m glad I have it though as I do use it for cutting some designs.

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

At the time I was looking the caps were $17 each. I see now the flexible caps with the hose clamp are $6. If I were to do it now I would buy the cylinder pieces from the hardware store and the disks from Wild Plantanica.

Great video. Thank you for sharing.

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

See how some of the designs are off center? That’s because my batter wasn’t centered exactly. I’m not unhappy as I still think it looks pretty good. Especially for a first try. I definitely see room for improvement.

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

This is a Yorker bottle. I recommend 16 oz, small enough to handle but you will have to refill it if you use a couple cylinders. Condiment bottle will work but clear will let you know when you are running low on batter. Also look into using the packing pillows like you get from Amazon to line...

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

Here is a batch I made. I do gel and my soap is high in lard. There are a lot of great suggestions on the forum, make sure your recipe is slow to trace and take your time. If you don’t want to invest in a kit, I have seen people use pringles cans and make their own pull through tools. Condiment...

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

I bought mine in October 2023 and paid 105 USD. The price has now gone up to 120 USD. Yes, that’s quite a lot and it took me a good while to commit. I even looked at buying the pipe separately and just ordering the inserts but honestly it wouldn’t have saved any money. The pipe is expensive and...

What to label "lard" on ingredient list?

Interesting you mentioned the religious restrictions. I’m sure it varies by religion but I once made soap for my podiatrist who is a very strict Muslim. I asked him about using lard and he said it was fine as they are more concerned about consumption. I found that very interesting.

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

Look up kaleidoscope soap. Lots of tutorials out there. I bought my tools here. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1449482008/. She has several options. It’s great fun and so hard to wait until it’s time for the cut. Every soap looks slightly different.

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

Absolutely beautiful! That’s a lot to make in one go. I love them all but my favorite is My Circus, My Monkeys. I am always in awe at those who use bold colors. 🤩

    Kitchen Cleaner

I had to look up kitchen extractor. In the US we say kitchen or range hood or just fan. Extractor sounds so technical and fancy. 😊 I love that many countries speak English but there are some definite differences. As for the cleaning, I clean what I can I would not remove the motor. The motor is...
