I don't have a real mould for either, I've just used boxes of different shapes and so far... I really liked the log shaped ones over the slab ones. The logs' bars are easier to achieve an even free-hand cut with. SO, from a brand new newbie with minimal tools perspective :P

I made a batch of beer soap late Friday night, but no more. I'm out of coconut oil. Waiting for payday, need more!

I did batch #4 last night - lavendar/anise. I used 20% cocoa butter, 25% coconut butter, 35 olive pomace, 15% palm and 5% castor. I know im supposed to mould for 24 hours, but ti was rock hard already so I cut it a little bit ago. I'm in love with this recipe :P Pics when I have some...

Just for some fun This is my 3rd batch, a blend of peppermint, vanilla and cocoa This soap ball and bar were made from left overs of the above batch... already scented vanilla, so i threw in some lavendar. Smells amazing! And from my second batch, cloven orange. I think I mixed...

So how do I know which scents are top, bottom or middle scents? I have lavendar and anise seed I wanted to blend, do i need something to anchor them?

I asked about this soap before, but now these spots are looking more orange than brown and i'm just concerned. The specs are where the dried peppermint leaves are embedded in the soap, and they used to be a more brownish colour. What is your vote? DOS or Bleeding?

With my first batch fo soap, stirring with a spoon, it took me more than an hour of constant stirring to reach a very light trace

Thanks Rita. The onyl reason I had considered rebatching is that most of the edges are severely damaged. I suppose I could just trim them, but then what do I do with the trimmed edges? Maybe I should wait to cut pure castile soaps until they've hardened quite a bit. Most of the damage...

1) Does it matter what oils I use in a combination, or just that it all adds up and I use the right ammount of lye/water? I bought 3L Olive Oil (pomace), 1KG coconut oil, and 1KG palm oil. I also got a very small ammount of cocoa butter (100g/3.5oz). Maybe someone has a tried and true...
