    Optiphen plus

I would check to see if the rose water and witch hazel already are preserved, they normally are when purchased from suppliers. If that's the case then no need to add any additional Optiphen. Also, try maybe adding a polysorbate (20 should be enough) to solibilize the oils and vit E :)

What do you desire in a bath bomb?

My ideal bath bomb would contain oils for moisturization and polysorbate so that it doesn't leave a ring on my tub. Color isn't really that important as long as it doesn't stain the skin or tub. Also I have a tendency to dislike bath bombs containing flowers and coarse glitters that get stuck in...

    Clear my doubt

Since there's no water in the formula and high percentages of glycerin is a preservative in itself (it's used a lot in medication manufacturing) there is no need to add any additional preservative, so the face mask should be perfectly fine to use for longer than 2 weeks. Just make sure not to...

    Salt Scrub colors

Could most probably be due to the fragrance oil, try to do a batch and leave one of the jars without any fragrance to see if it's causing it. If that's the case you might want to try a vanilla color stabilizer since fragrances containing higher percentages of vanillin tend to discolor the...

    Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate

Update: I've talked to a lot of people experienced in SCI and some of them have experienced the same problem, so it definetely seems to be a temperature issue. I managed to solve it by tweaking the formula by adding 30% coco betaine to 10% SCI instead of 10% coco/10% SCI as previously and it...

    Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate

Hi and thanks for your reply! I purchase the ground up version of it, so it's already a very fine powder. Very clever idea of melting it in the microwave, but how does it react when you combine it with the (I would guess much cooler) water phase? No separation?

    Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate

Hi everyone! I've done this formula before and it was a success, but this weekend I tried it out again and it was a complete failure even though I did everything as the last time, so I'm guessing it might be a temperature issue since I live in Sweden and it's winter here now. Anyway, if...

    Troubleshooting bath bombs

Thanks for the advice. I've tried oils previously but I didn't like the ring they left around the tub, but maybe a little cocoa butter won't have this effect. I can't really pack the bombs too hard due to my molds, otherwise they won't release, so unfortunately they are quite brittle and I'm...

    Bath bomb colorants

Ooh nice job, the green looks really pretty! Do you mix in the colorants by hand or do you use an electric whisk? My last bath bombs made with icing colorants morphed so I'm trying to see if I can find new techiques to work in the color :)

    Troubleshooting bath bombs

After my previous thread I got some icing colors and they do work really well! I made vanilla & raspberries and cotton candy bath bombs previously and they turned out great. But then I attempted to do a batch of lavender and another one of magnolia and unfortunately the bath bombs turned out...

    Bath bomb colorants

Thanks for the suggestions! I've been thinking of trying the BB colorants previously, are they very concentrated? And are these the correct Wilton colors? http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=3E30C98D-475A-BAC0-5187E9B047CE5077

    Bath bomb colorants

Hi! I have found a new hobby in making bath bombs, and so far they are working great except for one thing - the color. I make bath bombs that are small, about 2,5 inches so I would love them to carry a lot of color and really tinge the bath water even though they are tiny, but I can't find a...
