    Shampoo Bar - Thanks Lindy!!

Do you need a vinegar rinse after using the shampoo bar? I've read a lot of the recipes call for one. I would definitely not want to do that to my hair. The smell...yuck! Is it the avocado that makes it better for hair as opposed to other soaping oils?

    wine AND milk soap?

I've done half wine and half GM several times. It smells bad and the color is ugly, but it works. Just use a nice colorant and a strong FO.

    What's the fear with lye?

My problem is that some of the FOs remain on my utensils, mostly my rubbery/plastic ones. Ask me how many times I've made rice or sloppy joes that kind of tasted like flowers :P

    Salt Bars, 2nd failure

Everything's wrong, really. Your oils, your SF, and your amount of salt. Much higher CO, higher SF, correct salt:oil ratio will all help.

    Soap for babies?

If you make a soap and claim that it's moisturizing and that it helps with stretch marks, you're going to give that mom a lot of false hope!

    Felted Soap

If anyone wants to give this a try, I have TONS of alpaca fiber just sitting around. I never got around to felting, or spinning, or doing anything with 3 animals worth of fiber! Super cheap...just PM me and we'll work it out.

    CPOP out of mold?

I think by the point that it's unmolded, it will have already gelled. If not, I may have a very nice smelling, but soapy oven! lol

    CPOP out of mold?

I was wondering if it's possible to CPOP after the soap has been unmolded. I make mostly salt bars and my mold will not tolerate the oven. If I unmold as soon as they set (few hours), can I then pop them in the oven and CPOP them?

    My new packaging

So cute!! Where did you get something like that? And, if you don't mind, what is the cost?

Covering up a color patch in soap

I made some salt bars the other night and decided to try to inject some color into the bottom of the batter (top of the bar) and swirl it just for a little pop of color. Well, since we all know how fast salt soaps set, I ended up with a green polka dot in the center of all my bars. Some are a...

    Salt Bar Additives?

Can you add things like honey, egg, and exfoliants to salt bars? I want to try to make salt bars with some of the same things I use in my regular bars. I didn't know if all that salt would affect the addition of other things.

Curious about salt bars, want to try one before making batch

I made a batch of GM salt bars last week with 80% salt to oil. I, of course, have no patience with any soap and took a bar into the shower after about 3 days. I find that it dries up a zit in no time. If I get a PMS breakout, usually I have a stubborn zit that will not dry up for 2-3 days. I...

    Salt Bar Rebatch?

I was able to rebatch some crumbly bars...just waiting to see if they will hold up or crumble. So far, so good. Yeah, should have listened on the individual molds thing. I only got 2 bars worth anything, and they were the molded ones. Live and learn!

Curious about salt bars, want to try one before making batch

I'm guessing you don't want a water discount when making these because you want them to not be bricks when you cut them, right? Full water, and cut after a few hours?

    Salt Bar Rebatch?

If my GM salt bars that I made today turn out wrong (too crumbly), can I rebatch? It'll be my first attempt at salt bars and I want to make sure I don't waste all that CO if I make a mistake! Also, what can you add to salt bars besides CO, salt, (and color and fragrance, obviously)? Can...

I did NOT touch... YES I DID! LAST EDIT! - #42- I PROMISE

Mind if I ask where you bought the colorants? It looks beautiful!!

    Goat Milk CPOP Disaster?

Sure. The lowest setting my gas oven does is 200 degrees. I put some in at 200, checked every few minutes, and turned off the oven and cracked the door as soon as I saw gel. Some had a few little bubbles on top that I was able to shave off with my planer. I used a silicone mold, too, which...

    Goat Milk CPOP Disaster?

I rebatched an overheated GM CPOP recently, and it turned out quite well. I also had a high SF of 11%, so I think that also contributed to the oily top. If you can't wait, shred it and toss it into the crock pot for a few hours. It should be just fine.

    GM Salt Bar?

I, too, have the itch to do a salt bar these days. Can I use GM as all or part of my liquid? And table salt is better than coarse kosher salt, correct?

Curious about salt bars, want to try one before making batch

Since the price of CO is relatively high, what do you charge for a bar? Is there room for much profit?
