    Sugar Scrub

WOW....never knew how to multiply to get the ounces. Now I can at least have a starting point. Thanks so much, I will prepare to start playing with something similar this weekend. I will keep you posted on how it turns out.

    Sugar Scrub

Percentages just aren't my thing...never has been. I want to try to make a sugar scrub that can be put into a 4 oz or 8 oz amber jar. I found a recipe posted a while back from Carebear but I don't know where to start since it is in percentages. I have tried a brown sugar scrub on my own but...

    Sugar Scrub

Does anyone know of any good tutorials on how to start making scrubs. I have searched the forum for information and have found a nice recipe to start with but it is in percentages and I can't decipher that. I have found one recipe that I tried but didn't really like the feel of it.....not very...

    Thin Bars? Thick Bars?? POLL!

I like the thicker soaps (1.5 inch) or so. I also like my soaps to more square and not odd shapes for some reason.

    Question About Doubling A Recipe.

Lye calc is your friend! I would suggest running your recipe through there before doubling because from what I learned, the lye and water will be different.

    Convert? I think yes!

I keep saying I am going to try but I hear it is hard to get in the molds and doesn't look as nice as CP. I soap at room temp so I don't stress to much over the process.

    Finally....a space to call home!

My lotion containers are the heavy wall (low profile) amber jars from WSP. I keep going downstairs and just looking at the room...lol I am so amazed that I actually have a space to keep everything instead of all over the house. All I need now is a hot plate and table and I would never come out :D

    Soap pot weekend 3/11/11 - 3/13/11

No soap making this weekend. I was busy finishing up my soap room and adding the shelves. I am now in the process of going through the rubber maid bins and actually seeing all of the supplies and fragrances I had forgotten I actually had. I was going to place an order this week but I will...

    Finally....a space to call home!

Thanks! I am now trying to find space for all of my essential oils. I have so many samples of stuff that I have never used! I am finding things that I purchased twice because I had forgotten I had already purchased it....this is not good!

    Finally....a space to call home!

Well, when I started this addiction to soap making I had no idea how this would turn out and now my poor basement was overwhelmed with soap stuff. So, after working all weekend, my and the husband have created my very own room to keep all of my products! I am absolutely in heaven...

    Substitute for Tamanu Oil

Hi, I am trying a new receipe for a balm and it calls for Tamanu oil. I am unfamiliar with this oil but when pricing it, it is expensive! Is there a substitute I can use for this oil like perhaps, Sweet Almond, Jojoba or something. I am trying to work with the things within my current...

    I love soap

Welcome back to our favorite addiction! Yes, some of the soapers on here make works of art....I wouldn't even want to use them they are too pretty. The one thing about is forum is there are soooooo many great ideas, pictures and stories that you can get caught up for hours just reading.

Advice on storing herbs, colorants, seeds, etc.

I store my colorants in tin jars that I purchased from Michaels for $.99 and I normally store my herbs in ziplock bags. I have a foodsaver so I use that and it takes all of the air out of the bags but I would think a normal ziplock should do the trick. Have fun with all of your new stuf!

    I hate rebatching SO much!!

I have a few bars of irregular soaps that either didn't come out of the mold right or chipped and I just use them for home only. I am too scared to rebatch...sounds like alot of work. I have not experienced any lye heavy bars yet...thank goodness.
