I hate you Geranium Rose EO

Thanks. Thankfully the place I am making it for has given me full creative freedom. Once I plane the tops of the second they should be fine (if that is what you are referring to...).

I hate you Geranium Rose EO

Well it wasn't all for not as they turned out not completely wretched. First photo was the first batch and second photo is the one I originally posted but cut. These are all goats milk soaps and the second one must have heated up a touch more than the first because it was more yellow but at...

I hate you Geranium Rose EO

Yes, it was SMR Geranium Rose. I was aware because of their description on their site it wasn't pure grade but was not aware of the craziness it would bring. Have to learn one way or another! Where do you source yours?

I hate you Geranium Rose EO

Why do you have to be such a fool and rice and accelerate like it's going out of style?? :( Here is hoping a good gel will settle this out a little. This is my first run with my private label so back to the drawing board for a rose scent because I am not using that again!! (For the record I was...

pH challenge by Dr. Kevin Dunn

My theory on the reasoning for this is marketing, plain and simple. I have had many a customer because Dove (being a syndent) is able to have a pH of 7 people think that all soaps, especially handmade because they are "all natural" should have that as well and I have to educate them on the...

First Beer Soap - rebatch possible or throw away?

But when you made the soap, did the lye dissolve completely or are you thinking it didn't because the amount was under what it should have been? If you had undissolved lye, you will know when you cut your soap and see lye pockets in the soap. This goes back to me saying about keeping it simple...

First Beer Soap - rebatch possible or throw away?

I agree with DeeAnna that this batch was way too small, if indeed it is in ounces. Was this a recipe that you created yourself or did you use one that you found elsewhere? To be honest, only being your third batch it is best to keep it simple. Making a beer soap on your third batch is very risky...

    Math Genius Needed!

Thanks, Shunt! I wasn't sure if I would figure the whole amount of the FO by the amount of wax or not but that makes sense

    Math Genius Needed!

I have said it before... I suck at math :x so hopefully someone can help. I am trying to update my finances for the new year to make sure I am aligned with my pricing and I am having a hard time figuring out my wax melts. When I make candles/wax melts I use 16oz of wax which gets me one beer...

    Zum Bars

Ugh, we just got a new Giant Eagle Market District store in our city (for those that live in NE Ohio and western PA you will know of this chain) and the store is a mix of whole foods and a regular grocery store. Everytime I go there I see people standing around the Zum Bar soaps. I have to use...

    Different use for Madder root

Understandable. I have silver and purple hair right now but my roots are coming in but it's a pain to bleach them and put more silver and purple back in.

A picture of ricing, volcanos, separating, overheating

I had a post awhile back when I got an instant seize so this is my soap on a stick. As you can see in pic 2 my stick blender was in there good enough I could move the whole bowl around:

    Any Rose EO Suggestions?

Thanks Lisa but those prices are still way too high for as much rose scented soap I will be making. I did get the geranium rose EO from SMR and it is very, very close to rose scent I think it will work for my client! Thanks for the suggestion!

    Wsp recipes

I honestly have not tried any of their recipes but a good suggestion on using any recipe you find online is to run it through SoapCalc to make sure the measurements are correct. This will also let you see the soap quality numbers to verify this is the type of recipe you want. Is there a...

    First time milk soap

I would suggest room temperature for your lye and oils. I think I have seen some people soap at higher temps and though they said they put it in the freezer they still had some overheating.
