    New Packaging

I think this will be my packaging from now on. I don't know if you can see it, but there are holes punched around the perimeter of the bag to allow a bit of air to vent the soap. They look very time-consuming and they sort of are, but I am not selling except to friends and...

    Shampoo Soap

I do not like shampoo bars or using CP soap for shampoo. It leaves a film on my hair. I have been trying SYNDET (means synthetic detergent) shampoo cakes. They clean without stripping and you can tweak the ingredients to suit your hair type. I have extremely thick, snarly tangled hair and I have...

    Liquid soap from CP shavings

I am wondering what proportions of water to soap to use when making my shavings into handsoap. I want to be able to put it in a pump bottle. I also need to know how much Germaben to put in with it to keep it fresh, or is this necessary? Thanks! ( I see no point in tossing these shavings!)

    Preservatives for SYNDET shampoo bars

This is a synthetic, solid/liquid surfactant product. And, yes, in retrospect for the hydrolyzed oat protein, I would think that Germall Plus would do the trick. I will incorporate it into every batch from now on. I did put a smidge in with one bar (made a teensy batch) and it didn't affect the...

    Herbarie

I know that some of us order from the Herbarie. I just placed another order and noticed that they will not be shipping between Dec. 19 and Jan. 3rd. Then they will ship orders on a 'received first" basis. If you were looking to make an order for the holidays, better get it in quick!

Nice Pink Biodiesel Glycerin (BDG) Soap.

So, Rick... First of all Happy Thanksgiving. Second, where does one find biodiesel glycerin? I live in a little village with gas station, grocery store, fast food and regular restaurants. We have very little here. Is this something that comes from an industry? Third, how does one soap...

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody in the States

We are having turkey, mashed potatos/gravy, sweet potatos, stuffing, homemade applesauce, and Alton Brown's green bean casserole. The Packers are playing (probably very poorly, but what the hey) and it will be a smallish gathering of just 5 of us..mother-in-law, sister-in-law, father-in-law...

    Preservatives for SYNDET shampoo bars

I have not used preservatives before for anything i've made, but on another forum saw that shampoo bars (the SYNDET variety) should have a preservative in them. I have Germall Plus, but am unsure about the viability of this in the formulation. If the Germall Plus doesn't work, what about...

    Speed Up the Curing Process

I thought that cured soap would begin melting if placed in a warm oven. I personally favor CPOP because the soap sets up faster and takes less time to do a "usable" cure, more like a couple weeks instead of a month. That said, CPOP soap is better and better with age, just like any other...

    Using Titainum Dioxide

I have both kinds of TD , oil and water dispersable. I couldn't mix the water type with oil, nor could I get a good mix by doing the oil type with water. But.... liquid glycerin seems like a good mixer for either kind.

    Lemon Bamboo Charcoal Swirl

Here's the little mold we made: Total cost was $8.99 for the drawer organizer and $2.50 for the plexiglass.

    Lemon Bamboo Charcoal Swirl

I made these in my new homemade slab mold. Worked really well! I just have to adjust my recipe for a thicker bar. :D

Looking for a 6 or 9 bar slab mold...

I was originally looking for a 6 BAR mold, not a 6 loaf mold. That said, I finally gave up and my gorgeous husband made for me a homemade 8 bar slab mold out of a bamboo drawer organizer and some plexiglass dividers. I have my first batch in the mold now. Fingers crossed!

    First ITP Swirl

This was to be a more distinctly colored bar, but it looks ok. I used grape oxide, Ultramarine blue, Amethyst Pink, white and Lavender fields (all dry colorants) Thanks for looking!
