**HELP** First large batch fail, now what...

While the books are nice, you can also get good information on various websites and youtube. the Soaping 101 channel has a lot of great videos as well as soapqueen. Kathy Miller's website http://www.millersoap.com/ also goes over a lot of the basics. Happy soaping!

I don't know about sales, but I like SKS overall for prices on containers . Cheapest I've found .

    First Pine Tar - interesting

Yeah it's great. Worked well on DH's eczema and my nasty feet. I actually like the smell also. Denis: I had the same thing. Everything I read said it would trace fast so I started hand mixing. After 5 min grabbed the SB and had it traced in another few minutes.

    Emulsifying sugar scrub

Holy cow this stuff is awesome!!!! I can't believe the feeling. The chocolate smell comes out strong when using it but otherwise it's great! Must buy refined cocoa butter!

    Emulsifying sugar scrub

I just made my first attempt at an emulsifying sugar scrub. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow. Since I used 5% cocoa butter, it's got a bit of a chocolaty smell coming through the Island Nectar Dupe FO I used. Oh well. Next time I'll either use more FO (not too much) or try refined cocoa butter.

    Breast Milk Soap

Thanks! Yes, I have made 100% OO soaps before. I currently use a 100% OO/100% buttermilk soap on my daughters (not the baby obviously). I let them cure for a good year before I use them. I have a pretty purple and delicately scented one I made for them since my oldest is getting old enough...

goats milk and coconut milk combined?

The soaping 101 youtube channel has a 5 milk soap recipe. Seems a bit of an overkill to me but hey, be creative! You can try anything!

    Breast Milk Soap

Well I haven't done this yet but I intend to treat it as a regular milk soap. I plan on using 100% olive oil/100% BM. I'm not going to do anything special with the milk, the lye and temp should take care of any nasties. I'm also planning on using 100% BM (It's in the freezer now. Just need...

    Cotton seeds in soap?

Could you grind up the seeds if they are bigger so they are not as scratchy? Just a thought.

    Breast Milk Soap

Well I just had a "doh!" moment. After giving it some thought I have changed my stance and decided, what the hell, if I have any left over, why not try it, strictly for me and my girls (I have a feeling others wouldn't feel as comfortable using this soap). Of course with the problems I've been...

    Wsp

I live less than 30 minutes from WSP and have been so happy with them as a company since I moved to OH. Previously I lived in Oregon and using Brambleberry was cheaper for me (shipping) but now I love having WSP right down the road, the discount they give for in-store pick ups, and the quality...

What oils make whitest soap? And peppermint EO ?s

My 100% coconut oil, 100% coconut milk bars (15% SF) are very white bars, and increasingly conditioning regardless of the soap calc numbers. Just my 2 cents.

    CP soap leaking oil?

Or you can crock pot it, but it ultimately is the same process. I bought a crock pot from goodwill for $2.50 that I use strictly for soaping. I even saw a brand new one at Walmart for less then $20 but I'm good with my little 2 quart one. I shred the soap in my food processor then put the pot...

    My first Goat Milk batch

Great job and great looking soap. It took me three attempts before I had a successful OMH soap. Sent from my iPhone using Soap Making

I think I might have figured out this swirl thing. Maybe.

Looks good! I'm still struggling with getting a successful swirl. Maybe I'll try your squeeze bottle idea. Sent from my iPhone using Soap Making

    coffee soap recipe idea

I got a coffee FO from WSP. Hubby gave me a bag of coffee he didn't like the flavor of to use to make the coffee and use the grounds for the exfoliant. Now I just need to offload some bars for the holidays to make more space on my curing shelves. Sent from my iPhone using Soap Making

    Cold Process Oven Process

I've done it and pretty much see it exactly as shunt said. It forces/ensures gel but won't change your cure time. I just hate partial gels so I'll do it to ensure a full gel. Sent from my iPhone using Soap Making
