I have a question for those of you that set up at farmers markets, craft fairs, etc..

Holy geez...People sure can be twisted little beings. I wonder what drives the mind to do garbage like that.

    Your favorite soap

My favourite soaps contain OO, CO, PO and 20/25% avocado, sunflower or safflower oil.

    Sceret to "Silky" Soap?!

I think some people use cornstarch or tapioca starch. Not sure about the different oils though.

Help! Do I throw this batch away? (very thinh trace, now in the fridge)

The soap will harden on its own. Leave it for a day or so and you will see.

    Soaps with beeswax

I have soap with beeswax in it and it's fine. I melted mine on the stove, added it to the oils and blended like crazy before and after adding the lye. I CP'd it so there are little flecks but it doesn't take away from the lather at all and does add hardness. I say make a small batch and give it...

    My soap vs another

Danielle, do you do a water discount?

    Vanilla Stabilizer

The stuff I bought was from Nature's Garden. It smells really potent in the bottle (sharp, like burn-your-nose-hairs sharp) but once you blend it there is no smell in the soap.

    Vanilla Stabilizer

It smells like a strong solvent. I made the mistake of taking a big sniff right in the bottle...You learn quickly to never ever do it again. :( I have used it with success though so it does work. Not sure what the MP kinds smells like and didn't even know there was a difference. Thanks Jennee...

Lol @ cannon soap. They are really cool looking.

    How much honey?

I put a tbsp ppo. The scent won't last but it contributes lovely bubbles. It heats up so don't insulate too much. Not sure what happens when you use too much.

I'm so jealous! You live somewhere warm enough to grow olives! :D Lovely soap, and welcome!

Very nice! I like the middle one.

    My nemesis sea salt soap.

I have tried making salt soaps twice. Mine look awful and feel even worse--no lather at all. So when I see yours and everyone else's, I have to wonder what the heck I'm not doing right. How do you get yours to look so...salty? :D

    Kaolin Clay Question

I use clays to help anchor the FO or EO in the soap. It seems to work well, although some FO's just don't hold their scent. If they smell light in the bottle then chances are they will be light in the soap. Check out the Scent Review Board if you haven't already. Lots of good info there once...

    Olive oil from grocery store?

You can pick up most of your basic oils from the grocery store and they are fine to use. Just watch for olive oil blends and expiration dates.

    Substatute for avocado oil?

Peanut looks to be close for conditioning but does squat for bubbles. Is hardness a consideration? Sunflower is lovely in soap.

Better pourerrer thingy for my oil?

The spout part needs to be pulled out from the can. There should be ring parts on the cap that you lift up to unscrew it. Lift them up but with the cap screwed on tightly and pull hard. The spout will pop up and I like Kattobrn's idea of poking a hole in the top of the can. I buy these cans...
