    Chocolate Almond- Yum!

They are getting quite dark! I have them curing on the mantel, and I just love walking into the living room and getting hit with the chocolate almond scent.

    Very first recipe! Feedback?

Hazel- wanted to give you an update on that recipe! I tried the soap this week, and the lather is great...very stable and creamy. It was not drying at all, in fact, I didn't even need to use hand lotion afterward. Definitely a keeper! Thanks again for your advice :) Here's a photo

    Chocolate Almond- Yum!

Thanks! I checked on them this morning, and the centers are darkening up nicely. I'm hoping the base will get nice and dark so the polka dots will really pop.

    Chocolate Almond- Yum!

Thank you! I like how they came out...I was afraid that gel would ruin the textured tops, but I think it looks ok.

    Chocolate Almond- Yum!

This is my second batch ever :D Scented with Chocolate FO and Almond FO. I used the soap balls I made with the scraps of my first batch to make polka dots in this one. I had been looking everywhere for something to use as a log mold. You know how everything starts to look like a potential...

    Busy weekend!

Whew, am I tired! I spent a good 5 hours making things today :) I made chocolate-almond bath melts: Then I made loofah M&P soaps for a co-worker. She requested them as a Father's day gift for her dad: Lighter orange is scented with orange, darker orangey red is scented with pink...

    Loofah turned spotted brown

I also did my first loofah soap this weekend :) I got my loofah from Bramble Berry as well. I noticed when I was soaking it that there were some brown seeds inside. Could this be what you are seeing? I shook them out and it was fine.

Who has the best deal on Lye

Wow, thanks for mentioning thelyeguy.com...I bought 12 lbs of lye for $40, including shipping. That's half the cost I was paying for Roebic Crystal Drain Opener in Lowe's! :)

    Hi from NY!

Hello saltydog! I'm a newbie from LI as well. I lived in Suffolk County until I was 25, when I moved to Wisconsin :) That's great that you found lye in a local hardware store!

    Soaping Room

Wow, everyone has such nice soaping areas! I am a brand new, newbie soaper, so right now I'm working in my kitchen. However, I'm also a brand new 1st time homeowner, and I have been blessed with a very large basement! There is one large room down there that already contains a deep laundry...

    My very first batch ever!

Thank you! I'm so excited...I can't wait to make my next batch. Just in case anyone was wondering, I had quite a bit of scraps left over after trimming the bars, so I made them into soap balls. I'm thinking of incorporating them into my next batch.

    My very first batch ever!

I took the leap into CP soaping last night. It went so smoothly and was a lot of fun. Took it out of the mold tonight and it was the perfect texture for cutting and trimming. It looks so nice! A very nice yellow/beige color, reminds me of beeswax. I didn't witness any gelling in the mold, but...

    Very first recipe! Feedback?

Here they are! The soap was at the perfect texture for cutting, trimming, and making soap balls. Reminds me of working with clay. After trimming all the bars, I had quite a bit left over, so I made some soap balls! :D

    Very first recipe! Feedback?

Thanks for the suggestions. I do not have palm oil. Here's a list of the oils I have: sweet almond, apricot kernel, avocado, peanut, sunflower, sesame, extra virgin olive, camellia, castor, grapeseed, and coconut. Plus, I have kokum, shea, and cocoa butters. I also have honey powder, beeswax...

    Very first recipe! Feedback?

Hi Hazel! I am open to any and all suggestions. I agree it's a little ambitious for my first try haha. Should the aloe juice just be added to the water then before mixing in the lye? What SF % would you suggest for a more conditioning bar?
