    Sorbitol

I use sorbitol regularly after reading lather lovers report :) I add 5% just like you do, without sodium citrate (calculated on the basis of weight of oils). I never noticed any stickinness or anything strange about the soap apart from really nice lather and bubbles. However, to be honest, I get...

    Kaolin Creme Soap

not_ally, thank you for your kind words. I will post the results. Good luck with confetti soap :). As for the links - maybe google site translator could be helpful, however the translation may be funny (well, not funnier than me sometimes expressing my thoughts in English, but comparable ;)).

    Kaolin Creme Soap

I have found on the German forum informations about Kaolin Creme that dandelion, the Great Soaptress :) uses. She said she creates a mix of the following: 1% kaolin clay 0,6% Titanium Dioxide (the proportions vary from 0,4 to 1% and she tends to lower this amount in her recent creations)...

    Ebru Technique Soap Challenge

I have already made my submission and previewed that there is someone else's nice butterfly and there the main picture is actually taken in the mold (and other photos in the blog are also before cutting). Saponista, maybe you could submit a photo of a whole batch? :) BTW this challenge is so...

    Confetti Soap and Mixing Recipes

I agree with advices above and just want to add that a very safe and also cute method is to make soaps similar to these: https://thesoapmine.wordpress.com/tag/confetti/ No chance of separation and I think it looks great! I have tried this many times, with the proportion of approx 1/3 of...

    Ebru Technique Soap Challenge

This is a very difficult assignment - I've already made three batches, out of which: one was acceptable but nothing special (colours too dark), one separated and one accelerated too quickly. Gonna try once again today, but I am on the verge of not submitting my soap if this one does not go well...

    Titanium spots?

I have had TD spots when I did not mix my water and TD solution well enough into the soap batter. The TD itself was perfectly dissolved in water, but after I incorporated it into the soap and hand stirred only, this is exactly what happened. The soap was still usable but spotty.

What Numbers Do you Follow in your Recipe Calculation

I take a look at: Durability (= Hardness - Cleansing), 25 is my minimum value here Cleansing (not more than 14 on soapcalc usually) Conditioning (not less than 55 or else I up my superfat accordingly) I don't really play much with Bubbly/Creamy value since I always add 5% castor and...

    High percentage of olive oil

I try to avoid more than 50% of soft oils in my recipe, and more than 40% of olive oil in particular, unless it is specialty soap (for babies, or bastille I am ready to give a good long cure). With more than 40% of OO I get that slicky feeling after standard 4 weeks cure and it starts after 3-4...

Wanting Good Lard Recipe - What do you think?

I have used a lot of lard recently in my soap. Previously I was unconvinced about it, like 'meh', but I have tried one of my well cured (3 months) lavender soaps 20/48/27/5 coconut oil/lard/ho sunflower/castor and it was gorgeous for the winter time! so delicate and it did lather very well after...

Tried soaping at room temp FALSE TRACE :( Need help rebatching

Oh dear :/ I am so sorry. I would probably hot process it from now on. You probably don't have crockpot, so I would just transfer the whole soap (scrap the sides of your red container) into the stainless steel pot, and then place this pot in a larger one (so that the bottoms of the pots do not...

What soapy thing have you done today?

whoa, I have just made 4 layered cp christmas soap in a slab mold. i hope the layers are +/- even and neat when I unmold (was not successful with that on previous occasions, with the results unintentionally being closer to itp swirl ;)). scented with vanilla, applejack and lemongrass/may...

    Lotion Bars

I have just recently digged through the subject of lotion bars! It was trial and error, mainly error ;) I was trying to come up with a recipe for a lotion bar for my pregnant friend - she can't stand most of scents except for citruses. She wanted to massage her belly and legs, so I was looking...
