that i am unsure of, sorry, you'll have to wait for someone who knows more than I do. This is where Hazel and Lizflowers42 come to the rescue usually :)

    Recipe advice for newbie

i have attempted to make milk soap three times, and have failed miserably at all. i have no idea why either, i did as you said, froze the milk and added it slowly, and it failed. one day i will venture towards milks again to conquer that now ugly beast :) but yes, milks are harder to deal with...

    Recipe advice for newbie

olive oil is extremely moisturizing for me. Everything else dries me out. I am no expert, and am still learning about superfatting myself. I normally superfat at 8%, giving myself an increased margin of error. i have never had trouble with Olive Oil. just be sure to NOT insulate the mold...

    Recipe advice for newbie

also wait for a few others to reply and see what they have to say about recipes, they may have a better percentage usage than i do. That, and become very familiar with soapcalc long before you start. there is no need for two confusing things at a time, so play with soap calc till you develope a...

    Recipe advice for newbie

i would do all the oils and butters, or a milk soap. Milks are hard to do for your first one, so i would do the oils and butters, make them a few times so that you can get a bit comfy with how the lye reacts. My favorite soap is 100% olive oil and then lye. You can make a fine soap with the oils...

A question for all you bee keeper people :)

A question for all you bee keeper people :)

OK, thank you for the answer. Makes me want to go get some right now! Its sold for 35$ I think for two or three gallons. Or something similar to that size. So does this raw honey crystalize fast? How do I prevent or fix it if it does? In the small bottles I get from him I just double broil them.

A question for all you bee keeper people :)

hi all, a local bee keeper sells his honey to the general public. I LOVE his system, in that it is a complete honor system. I have never met the man, or a person for that matter when going to his land, stepping into his little 10x10 store, and buying honey. I slide my cash through the slot in...

New Here - New to Soap - Got a Cow

sorry kcmachan, unfortunatley research is the best and safest way to learn. I dont have any milk recipes,as i am still learning myself, but i am jealous that you have access to jersey milk. Very rich compared to what we normally have access to. When you do learn about soaping, add that to the...

    Little Holes

i have never worked with babasu, but there are three items in there that add a bit "Grit" to your soap, the olive oil pumice, sugar, and pko flakes. Usually when that happens, there is the potential for heat. I wonder if that is what happened, it got just a tad hot. but im sure others who know...

    Storing personal soap

i wouldnt bother wrapping them. I normally set them on wax paper (More so to keep the shelf clean) and keep them away from direct heat, water, and air from the vent. I have mine in a drawer also. Soaps will last a long time, your soaps look nice too :)

    Ostrich Oil Co-Op

Wow, sorry for the pain this is causing you. i wonder if it might be easier (IF it stays solid) to just cut chunks of equal weight, and ship them in zip lock bags? i did that with deer tallow, and it has stayed just fine in the freezer. thanks for doing this hazel, we have now all learned from...

Have you ever made Sake Soap?

Sorry that this took so long to post, but i made the soap, and it turned out to be VERY cleansing. not dehydrating per say, but you definitely feel like you skin has been cleaned thoroughly. It may prove to be drying over time. I havent used it continously though, being that i am still playing...
