What soapy thing have you done today?

Finally cut my last shampoo bar. It was like 3-4 weeks old and still plenty soft. Say: "Too much water!" Just now put a new scent to bed. It's BB's Arabian Spice. I was hoping it would be a replacement for WSP's discontinued Holly Berry. I don't think it is that, but it is very nice...

    another newbie ?? re: emulsifiers

Thanks for clearing that up. When I read that e wax would make scrubs feel like lotion when rinsed, I mistakenly assumed that the e wax itself was doing that, not acting on the other ingredients. I appreciate you making sense of this for me. Can the stearic acid be used in a scrub? I have...

well I goofed but good (scrub recipe)

Good point! I'm glad I only made a little!

    another newbie ?? re: emulsifiers

A recipe I'm working with uses both an e wax and cetyl alcohol. I was thinking they do much the same thing in a recipe: namely emulsify and soften. If that is true, however, I'm guessing we would not need both. Please clarify, as with all I've read, I don't see the difference, at least as far...

Thanks, Dorymae. That was what I was hoping!

well I goofed but good (scrub recipe)

I'm fairly new at making sugar/coffee scrubs. As a matter of fact this experiment was my first attempt using both preservative and e wax. I sit down to complete my notes on what I did and realize my recipe called for only 10 gr. e wax and I used 120- the same as my sugar! I know I've...

What soapy thing have you done today?

We have a snow day today. Most of my "soaping" time lately has been spent packaging and labeling, but I got all those delivered last weekend. Today I get to MAKE soap! Yea!! I've been inspired to try litsea and sweet orange anchored with clay. But when I made my last order I forgot to get...

    interesting link/soap recipe

Found this on Facebook. I'm not that "into" smudging, but thought it was interesting so that is why I'm posting the link. Disclaimer: As with any online recipe, be safe and run it through a lye calculator...

Thanks for this reminder. That combo is one I've been meaning to try for some time. I need to look and see what clays I have to anchor it.

So I was running out of groceries

Hubby has taken over some of my coconut oil, too. I usually buy it online but ran out so purchased at the grocery. Now he's telling me how good it is. I think he's won over. The goat's milk I buy is used for both consumption and soaping. But it is not the powder. It is straight from the...

To Gel or Not to Gel?

I do both, though most of my soaps are ungelled. The reason is overheating.. I have a lot of trouble with it because I use a lot of goat's milk. If I wrap, I get a split on the top when it overheats. If I leave unwrapped I get partial gel. Can't seem to reach that happy medium. So I just...
