To my understanding longevity is how long the bar will last when used. Stability is for how long the lather will stay fluffy with big bubbles. Vulcanos is usually caused by overheating from to much sugars or fragrance oils that just doesn't work very well in soap. Also next to the...

I think so. I was researching this a while ago because of eventual health concerns with curing and storing my soap on an open shelf in my bedroom with poor ventilation, and a lot of people is storing their soap the same way you do.

People seems very happy with nurture soap's version.

I bought a big box of coconut oil from one site and it was actually printed on the cardboard box "suitable for ice cream and confectionery" or something like that, so I assume it's edible?

I haven't experimented with those things yet but everybody seems to agree that higher lye concentration makes for faster trace and lower lye concentration makes for slower trace= more play time. So I would go with that. What was the problem with the ebru challenge? To fast trace? What lye...

Not that I am very experienced or anything but I can't image it would make any difference mixing it up yourself. Though it might take som experimenting to get the proportions right. You would also make sure that your own avocado butter is identical to the avocado butter of the soap calculator...

I would agree with The Efficacious Gentleman. If you are just going to split the batch in half and then add whatever % of superfat with whatever oils you want that would be pretty safe to do. Anything more complicated than that it's better to do the two separate batches from the start. I don't...
