    High Shea butter soap

I happens to have a lot of Shea butter that I want to make use of and I tried making a soap with 20% when I was.. Well, newer to soap making and it wasn't very good with or without the Shea. Does anybody have any recipes/ thoughts they want to share? Would a higher superfat help with the drying...

    Salt Bar

Oh, pictures? I made my first salt bars last week, can't wait to try them and see if they are as nice as everybody say! I poured the soap batter in four different single cavity moulds and than mixed in the salt separately at different % in each mould. Faster and cheaper than making a...

    What does longevity mean?

To my understanding longevity is how long the bar will last when used. Stability is for how long the lather will stay fluffy with big bubbles. Vulcanos is usually caused by overheating from to much sugars or fragrance oils that just doesn't work very well in soap. Also next to the...

Where and on what to cure soap

I think so. I was researching this a while ago because of eventual health concerns with curing and storing my soap on an open shelf in my bedroom with poor ventilation, and a lot of people is storing their soap the same way you do.

    Do You Eat Soaping Oils?

I bought a big box of coconut oil from one site and it was actually printed on the cardboard box "suitable for ice cream and confectionery" or something like that, so I assume it's edible?

    Confusion regarding lye concentration

I haven't experimented with those things yet but everybody seems to agree that higher lye concentration makes for faster trace and lower lye concentration makes for slower trace= more play time. So I would go with that. What was the problem with the ebru challenge? To fast trace? What lye...

    Question about aloe butter,avocado butters....

Not that I am very experienced or anything but I can't image it would make any difference mixing it up yourself. Though it might take som experimenting to get the proportions right. You would also make sure that your own avocado butter is identical to the avocado butter of the soap calculator...

    FO on skin

It should say on the bottle or the manufacturer/retailers webpage what purposes it is safe for. Then of course we always have the "if I use this product twice a week for ten years will I be more likely to developed cancer"-thing which can be hard to prove or disprove. But if you are really...

    Adjusting superfat?

I would agree with The Efficacious Gentleman. If you are just going to split the batch in half and then add whatever % of superfat with whatever oils you want that would be pretty safe to do. Anything more complicated than that it's better to do the two separate batches from the start. I don't...
