I started thinking,, maybe the wheat germ oil made this scent so bad,, it has such a heavy smell and I used it almost 15 % of my total oils.

Ok, So that is about 60 grams for the kilo of oils, do you use lavender EO or FO? Just wondering how high I can go with the EO's for the irritant issue not to be an issue.

I think the guideline is about 40 gr. per kilo of oils or 0.7 oz per lbs. of oils. I don't think spoons are the best way to measure your Eo's or Fo's ,it is probably better to weigh it.

I think any pebbles work, I found some on the playground outside my house. I boiled it 2 times for about 2 hours and I used a lot of water and stirred often.. Good luck
I used the tallow for about 35-40 % of my recipe.

That one smells like womit and it reverses trace.. It was ok OOB but as soon as it hit my soap it was like someone threw up in my soap pot.. I put it in my moald and hoped it would be better once it cured but I had to throw it out after 3 weeks because of the stink.
Has Anyone else had a...

I have to render the fat from lamb 2 times with pebbles, baking soda and vinegar for the sheep smell not to shine trough. I get my fat straight from the slaughterhouse.. And while I'm cooking the fat my house doesn't smell that nice but it quickly goes away.
I made a couple of batches that had...
The sugar dosen't desolve in the oils but it doesn't seem to matter, my soap is still the same as before, no clumps or carmelized sugar in it.. I always soap with 33% premix and I didn't want more water in my recipe.
I am also limited to soaping with a premix since I can't buy 100% lye here...
I buy premixed lye solution so I have been adding Icing sugar and clay to my oils before adding the lye solution with good results.. I blast it with a stick blender until it is fully incorporated into my oils, I got so tired of boiling the sugar syrup and sometimes forgetting it on the stove...
I am in Iceland so there is no way that it could have melted here but I am not sure if it did during the shipping,, I scraped the bottom of the pail and it is the exact same consistency as the top so I am not as worried...
Thank you for the reply.
I have been using palm oil from Colombus foods in some of my soaps,, I bought a 50 lb pail but since it is 50lb I didn't stir it and I scoop out what I need... then I was reading a post from Carebear about the stearic acid in the palm sinking to the bottom when it is liquid and now I am scared...
Morning sickness kept me from soaping for 8 months and I bought the jug just before I got pregnant
I think I will just throw it out..
Thank you for all....
I bought 7 lb. jug of castor oil 9 months ago and when I opened the seal it had a bit of an rancid smell, I kept it in the fridge the whole time...
Should I just throw it away or can I use it without spoiling my soaps ,,
What do you guys think?
A little update,, I licked the top of my soap and there is no zap at all, I did not rinse it I just waited until it seeped into my soap and now it is fine. Thank you guys for all the replies..
