Have You Made or Used Whipped Soap?

It stays soft because you use both potassium and sodium hydroxide :)

Have You Made or Used Whipped Soap?

Pretty much the process is to add some extra glycerine and SA to your recipe .. cook it to neutrality ... super cream with SA and glycerine ... let your soap rest ... whip it, rot it, and you're done. I know there' s a group out there that specializes in nothing but cream soap ... I think...

Have You Made or Used Whipped Soap?

I've made whipped soap; it's actually pretty easy. There's a starter recipe in Grosso's "Everything About Soap" book. There's also a couple groups on the internet that are dedicated solely to the art of whipped soap. It's just like HP soap; you cook it, super cream it, then let it rest for...

    What oils are superfat?

I love crisco too ... and soybean shortening... and lard .. makes for a nice creamy bar with tons of bubbles. The bar usually has nice slip as well.

    Choosing a lye solution %

I soap at with 37% and have plenty of time to do swirls (as long as the FO is one that behaves well). I can attest to what Carebear said; my stuff is ready to unmold in less than 8 hours and is hard as a rock. I think it takes less time to cure (not a huge reduction, but cuts of a few days).

    Is Titanium Dioxide the Culprit?

Yes, TD does make for a fast trace when you use a lot of it ... lol .. that teamed with SA is how I got my first soap on a stick.

    Help needed with Salt Bars

Salt bars gel super super hot ... be careful with using plastic molds. You should be able to unmold and cut after about an hour and a half or so. I've never heard of a salt bar batch not gelling .. the salt makes it gel fast and hot .. as a result I use about 1.2 oz of FO (with a FP above 200)...

I just put a heating pad underneath my mold and that pushes gel.

    What causes soft soap?

Danielito, your recipe is high on oleic acid which creates a rather soft bar to begin with. Perhaps one batch didn't gel, like was mentioned above. There are two things you could do to make it harden faster. First, you could add some stearic. The second thing you can do is soap with a 34%...

    soapmaker 3 graph question

Just about any butter, lard, and hydrogenated material (crisco, soy shortening) will give you a creamier lather. Palm oil contributes to creaminess as well.

    Starting a soap business- LLC?

Drex .. you're 200% right. I'm taking business law right now and the trend in courts is towards holding responsible individuals (even if they didn't intend any wrong doing or know about any ills) liable in criminal and civil courts, whether those individuals are part of an LLC, corporation, or...

What do you think about this soap???

Barb's 200% right; my chocolate soap looks like a pb cup when I first cut it. Bathroom is a really really bad place to cure.
