    Creamy cold process?

Hi all, this may be a silly question, but I've been looking at pics of a lot of soaps set up in their molds with very creamy looking soap. The soapers generally pattern the tops in waves and they look beautiful, smooth and creamy. My soaps, however, never look as creamy when they're thick enough...

    Beer and Lye weirdness

Ah, lye cake. Now that sounds familiar. Thank you, everyone. I didn't heat the alcohol off of the beer because the soaping 101 tutorial said that wasn't necessary. I'll try it again next weekend, with the alcohol cooked off of the beer and I'll try pouring my lye in more slowly.

    Beer and Lye weirdness

Hi everyone, This is the first time I've attempted beer soap, so here are the steps I took (after watching a ton of videos): *Opened a can of Fosters Ale and left it opened in the fridge for a week. *Measured cold Ale into lye pitcher *Added measured lye while stirring *Felt pitcher...

Thank you, Marilyna. I'll check out the Crystal Light packaging before I go buying a bunch of junk food... lol.

    Molds for sample sized soaps?

You know what? I thought about buying the Wilton's brownie bite mold, and then I went to the store and while wandering through the chips aisle, I saw the Pringles. PRINGLES cans. Of course! No new molds to buy, more money for me.

    Molds for sample sized soaps?

Hi All, If you got an order for 100 soaps at 1 to 1.5 ounces each, what type of mold(s) would you use?

soapcalc will calculate for potassium hydroxide? I hadn't really seen much feedback regarding soapcalc and liquid soaps on this forum. I'd like to try it this way if it works.

    Liquid Soap recommendations?

Hi all, I would like to start making liquid soaps, but would like to read more about it first. I've read the Liquid Soap book by Catherine Failor and would like to try her recipes, but think they are too big for test batches. Do any of you have recommendations for me? Thanks so mcuh.

    Essential Oils vs Fragrance Oils

Thanks to everyone for the reminder about using food grade products for anything that goes on or near the lips (I do). It's always good to be extra diligent about those things. Plus, the scientists on this forum are amazing. Thanks for all of your knowledge. I don't sell my products...

    Essential Oils vs Fragrance Oils

I love orange EO. And lemon. I made some awesome smelling lemon poppy seed bars and thought I'd make a matching lip balm and sugar scrub and package it all up for Christmas presents. [/img]

    Essential Oils vs Fragrance Oils

I usually buy by the pound as well. Have you been able to find an essential oil for less than $2 ounce?

    Essential Oils vs Fragrance Oils

Do you prefer essential oils or fragrance oils in your soaps? If you use essential, what quantities do you have to buy in to get a good price? I haven't been able to find a good essential oil at less than $2/ounce (and I prefer citrus such as orange or lemon). When people request...

    Palm or PKO?

Ooops, I just realized I said castor twice when I meant Olive Oil.

    Palm or PKO?

Sorry, everyone, I didn't get to check back because I can't access the forum from work. I just learned something, so PKO is a good sub for coconut oil? Right now, I'm out of palm and I'm trying to decide whether to buy PO or PKO. I have coconut, castor, apricot and castor oils on hand...

    Palm or PKO?

Do you have a preference? I know they have different qualities/acids/sap values, but I can build a good soap on either. There is a cost difference and I'm trying to save money. Aren't we all? Which do you use?

Someone posted a link to a blog once

I've been searching for it, but can't seem to find it. Something with monkey in the url? Does anyone know who I'm thinking of? It's a blog with a lot about the chemistry in soap making and a lot of really useful information.
