Bath Bombs - No Citric Acid?

Yes, I second what Tabitha said. I'm very new to bath bombs, but I've been reading up on the chemistry of them and it's the citric acid/baking soda combo that makes them fizz. I also second what Krissy said (I'm not very original today) - have you tried using just oils and no water? Good luck!!

    Made my first bath bombs!!

I have enjoyed this thread and have gotten some great information from it, but nobody actually answered my initial questions. Well, I made a second batch and made adjustments/experimented and found some of the answers for myself. Here they are: It was too much liquid that caused those...

    Adding stuff to bath salts

I'll give it a try and see what happens. As long as you spread the salts out on a sheet of wax paper to dry - and/or run them through your fingers once they're dried...maybe???? Seems like maybe they'd crumble back into individual grains. We'll see!

    Adding stuff to bath salts

I see. Well, then I suppose I would just melt the shea butter and let it cool a little before mixing in with the salts. Thanks for the info!

    Adding stuff to bath salts

Hi, all. I've been seeing bath salts that include wet items (like shea butter, for example). I'm not really understanding how that would be incorporated into a loose bath salt formula. I'm picturing clumping. Do you melt the shea? I've heard people use the term "grate" with shea, but the shea...

    Made my first bath bombs!!

I just made my first bath bombs this weekend and I'm so excited! They're great in a lot of ways, though I did have a couple of questions: 1. They did not have any warts, but most of them did develop a large crack along the seam. Also, they flattened out a bit. I'm thinking that both of these...

how do you ship bath bombs?

Krissy, I've never shipped them, bu I did make my first ever batch this weekend and they're already hard as a rock. I would not be at all worried about shipping them in a box with some reasonable amount of padding.

    Chocolate soap?

I made a really yummy chocolate soap. I used some mixture of olive, palm and coconut, along with 10% castor oil and 10% cocoa butter (unrefined, so it has that great chocolate scent). I don't have my notes here with me and I don't remember the exact recipe. Also, I added a chocolate FO from WSP...

    Does refrigeration harm any oils?

I've read several threads about which oils people refrigerate and which ones they don't, and it seems like it really varies from person to person. One question I have about this is - is there any HARM to refrigerating any particular oils? In other words, would there be any reason NOT to...

Need FO quantity suggestion (first time with FOs)

I usually do .8oz PPO, but that's a starting point for me. I rarely seem to need more than that, and on occasion have found that I may need less (with a particularly strong fragrance). I find that .8z PPO usually fades to just the perfect amount of scent for my taste (in CP soap). And of course...

Rosemary Oleoresin Extract as an antioxidant

Yes, I'm sorry I didn't clarify. I'm thinking of them simply as an antioxidant.

Rosemary Oleoresin Extract as an antioxidant

I've heard a lot of people talk about using vitamin E in their formulas. I don't happen to have any, but I do have Rosemary Oleoresin Extract. Does anyone regularly use that in place of Vitamin E? I wonder which is better...?

    Emulsified Scrub Recipe

I thought I'd bump up this old thread because Hazel mentioned that she was going to make this scrub (with liquid soap) and compare it to the kind she usually makes. I was curious to see what your thoughts were, Hazel - or anyone else who has made the comparison. I have not yet made any...

Oh for goodness sakes it's just soap! (Now with pic)

I think it's great that you let yourself be adventurous - and I'm sure the soap will look very cool, even if it's not exactly how you intended. I can't wait to see the cut pics!!

I'd love to know the answer to this too. It seems so easy and i really have enjoyed the ones I've bought over the years.

Lyyyynnn, oh Lyyyynnnn? What's your bribe?

Thanks, Lynn!! I'd also love to know whether you gel or not? Since I've got some silicone molds, I've started to force gel in a warm oven. I suppose that would melt the tops, but I'm not sure. I'd love to hear your take on that. Thanks again for sharing!!
