Sugar Bubbles vs. Castor Oil Bubbles

I haven't tried sugar enough to know how much it adds to the soap. I am going to have to try it again. Thanks!

    Annatto seed or powder?

I soak annatto seeds in oo (part of my recipe) to make a pale yellow soap. This always turns out very nice, but I wondered if anyone has tried the powder and if so, how does it turn out and do you add it to a small amount of oil and blend in at trace? I've used rosemary powder this way, but...

    Lye on my face (Precautions)

In addition to aloe gel, lavender EO is good for burns (not to remove the lye though). It is said to speed up the healing and help to prevent scarring (on bad burns). Melodee, the acrylic face shield is an excellent idea...thank you.

Homemade Essential Oils - this was really interesting

If you do try it, I would love to know the results. It sounds very interesting...you would have full control over what your soaps are scented with.

    Mall Retail Location - Updatge

Lindy: The best decision is the decision you make. You'll always have the opportunity to lease commercial space, so I hope you don't feel like you've missed out on something. In my experience, when I've had doubts about something, it always seems like something better comes along later (and...

Amanda: That sounds exciting. I've been seriously considering that program also. Please report on how you like it and your new molds.

    dragging soap

Thanks CastorFan, that was an excellent description. Hmm, I've haven't had that happen and I hope I don't. I've never used that low of a percentage of CO, maybe that keeps mine from "dragging".

How soon to safely start selling?

I have been making soaps for almost a year, and have made numerous batches. Had I started selling immediately, my buyers would not have purchased my best products. I continuously improve through trial and error. Everyone who has tried my soaps say I should start selling (I have one salon and...

    dragging soap

I know this sounds stupid, but I am not familiar with soap "drag", what is it?

    Is this just my imagination?

I've never made hp, so I couldn't say from experience...but now I really want to try.

Sugar Bubbles vs. Castor Oil Bubbles

Rosey: Are you not making a batch without sugar? or without castor oil? I am curious if the sugar makes a "big difference". I know the castor does, but wasn't sure about the sugar as I've only used it in one batch.

    cheap soap cutter

Deb: This sounds wonderful, could you (or anyone) by chance post a picture? I would love to see if I could make one, but not sure how to do it. I am currently using a woodin box with slats on each side. I run a pastry cutter through the slats to cut the bars, but many times they don't end up...

    Warnings/Labels question

On each bar I list the ingredients and include " If you are allergic or sensitive to any of the natural ingredients listed above, do not use this product".

    Show me your SAPONIFACTORY!

OMG...it hurts just looking at all these great spaces. I am currently storing supplies in our mud room; making soap in the kitchen; moving it to the dining room for 24 to 48 hours; curing, labeling and stocking in the basement; and logging everything on my computer in my office. After seeing...

    no oo soap

Hmm, I'm curious...that is creamy and hard. Surprisingly, the conditioning is not so great, but it probably feels good with all that shea. Does the bar have chemicals added for bubbles and have you by chance tried it? I can't imagine how they are making it for that price if it is all natural.
