My Old Girl Died Last Night..

MyNaturesArt: I am so sorry for your loss of your beautiful little "Tink", I am crying now also after reading of it, (it brings back sad memories of previous pets of mine). A faithful, cuddly, furry friend becomes a major part of the family it lives with. It is always so, so hard when we lose...

    FDA vs CPSD?

Are there any steps that must be taken with the FDA and CPSD? for soap, lotion and creams? I've read with FDA the color additives must be approved and good manufacturing guidlines and labeling adhered to. I wasn't able to find a detailed list of natural color additives (other than a few) and I...

    Have you ever?

Rosey: My husband was throwing out an empty cd storage case the other day (they look like a mini round cake container) and I pulled it out of the trash can and said, wait, I can use that for something. I thought I would make a little soap gift with it. It could hold 2 or 3 standard bars, a...

    confused... (maybe i'm just tired)

phpworm: Where are you buying your EO's? Check online at different sites for EO. You'll be able to find much better prices then $5 - $10 for 10 ml. Check in fragrance and EO for a number of suppliers names.

    Some soap pics

Thanks twilight. I am terrible taking pictures, they are all blurry. I am going to attempt some swirls or funnels in my next batch; everyone always has such pretty soaps with those methods.

    Help with labeling

Kittywings: I think if your ingredients are listed on the back in small print it will not interfere with the elegant front of your bottle.

    Palmarosa oil

Wendybyrd: Where did you get your palmarosa. I bought a sample on ebay some time ago and didn't like it. I even wondered if the seller sent the wrong thing. I have since started buying my EO's from two different suppliers and love them, but I never bought palmarosa again after my previous...

2nd batch of soap Tried a swirl

Wow...that turned out really pretty. Great job for your second batch! In the picture it looks like yellow and brown, did you also use something else for the yellow, or does it just look that way in the picture? Very, very pretty.

    Darn...wrong EO in batches

I am sticking with one from now on. There really is "too much going on". It's just not worth it. Fortunately, these can still be used, it's just not the color I wanted for each batch.

    confused... (maybe i'm just tired)

Depending on the essential oil, an average % will be from 4 to 9%. (Use .4 ounce for strong oils - Clove, Cinnamon, Ylang Ylang. Use .7 oz for average oils. Use .9 oz for citrus oil). Your batch is 64 ounces of oil (4 pounds) & 2 tablespoons of EO = 1 oz. 64 ounces x 4% = 2.56 oz...

    Darn...wrong EO in batches

Has anyone ever made two batches at the same time and put the wrong scents in the wrong batch? I made one green batch and one peach batch yesterday. I just unmolded them and realized I put the mint fragrance blend in the peach color soap, which is supposed to be a botanical/citrus blend...

    sugar

Magia: I read this in a website today and thought you might be interested. "Do not add cornstarch to soap. Cornstarch can leave a thin film on your skin that might attract bacteria". I don't know if it is true or not as there are other sites that give recipes with cornstarch. Have you ever...
