I think I found my people......

Welcome, HoiPoloi! My sincerest sympathies on being so addicted you will now spend all of your time making soap, thinking about soap, dreaming of soap, cursing at soap, looking at pictures of soap, watching soap videos, talking about soap to non-addicts, and even using soap. I'm sorry you have...

Post you ugly soap pics here - Troubleshooting thread

Maybe, Obsidian. But as I said, the green part, which is the bulk of the loaf, is smooth and pretty. No zap. The reddish parts are kind of crumbly, like old mortar. Recipe was one you'll recognize: 40 tallow/40 lard/20 coconut oil. I just ordered NG's Tomato Red mica so I'm hoping not to fool...

Post you ugly soap pics here - Troubleshooting thread

This is the second time I've had BB's Merlot Sparkle Mica, which used to be very well behaved, separate on me and make an oily, grainy batter. At least, I think it's the mica. Scent is NG's Applejack Peel and the green part came out nicely, but I have these translucent jelly pockets and cracks...

    Reorganized my supply cabinet

Geez, guys. This is my reorganized cabinet. You should have seen it before! Keep in mind, since my move, I live in one room.

    Reorganized my supply cabinet

This was an ammo cabinet. Fifth shelf not shown. M&P supplies not shown. Number of a therapist who will help me deal with silicone mold/FO addiction not shown.

    Ever make anything with pallets?

Before I sealed and painted it white. This is a wine rack. I made slots with a jigsaw for the glasses to hang upside-down, and attached a towel rack from a salvaged piece of pipe.

    Need "Citrus" FO suggestions

I make a nice, very long-lasting citrus blend with BB's Meyer Lemon, Lime, a little 10x Orange, anchored with Litsea and NG's Ruby Red Grapefruit. It still smells like a citrus orchard after a year.

Best way/s to ask for advice in a new thread(long, boring, prob. annoying to newbies).

This amuses me because I found the forums via searching online to my dumb/newbie questions. It showed up again and again in my searches, and everyone seemed so smart and kind and helpful and knowledgable. Not only did it seem like a nice place to hang out but virtually everything I struggled...

Post you ugly soap pics here - Troubleshooting thread

I have a knack for making Scabby Wound soaps in an attractive Band-Aid color. It's kinda my specialty. The latest—failed wine soaps. I forgot to add the coconut oil, portioned out the white part, SB'd both the Inner Organ Pink and the white to trace, remembered the coconut oil, ADDED TO THE RED...

Wow, that is super cute, Stacy! You are all so talented and helpful.

The most beautiful packaging/labels I've seen

It's nice, but it looks like two labels. Also, is it up to legal standards? I'm sure we'd all go much simpler if we were allowed to.

Yeah, it looks like the owl is trying to hypnotize you. The yellow should only be in the middle, anyway. I think I'll stick with the black and white.

Yes, another "How's my label?" thread

All righty, here is the yellow version. Perhaps too yellow? Also the non-soapiness of it might be an issue, although I like that it's strong and clear and not full of bubbles and fairies. I appreciate bubbles and fairies, just not my aesthetic. I wanted to be more unisex and vintagey. And the...

I like Spenny's too! Very clear and pretty. I asked her to add a little yellow or gold into the eyes so we'll see. I think I'll keep it--it's clean and graphic and the owl is pretty adorable. Thank you, everyone. Fingers crossed I can actually start selling a bit of CP.

Yes, another "How's my label?" thread

But I just don't know. I love the logo, but graphic designers don't seem to understand soapers' needs. A round logo seems kind of difficult to work with unless I switched to square tags instead of rectangular labels, in which case there may not be enough room for Name of soap, Announcement that...

Inspire Me - Soap Making Game

So the deal is, we suggest what another stuck soaper should do, then we get a suggestion? Because I am going to need a lot of inspiration soon.

    Free lard and tallow

Sigh. It is with a heavy heart and an empty wallet that I pack up my 50 pounds each of lard and tallow (yeah, I underestimated) in boxes, back those boxes in other boxes, and ship them to be with me cozily at my new residence. Once I get them on their way, I will delete the thread. Thanks...

You know you're a crazy soap person when...

When a friend is describing some of the fun cakes he likes to bake, like ombre, hidden rainbow, camo, pumpkin cheesecake, chocolate cherry, and all you can think is "I did that/want to do that in soap."

Tell me about Salt bars...why great?

Soaping 101 discusses the CO perception in her soleseife tutorial--technically, coconut oil is high in cleansing, which soapers equate to drying. A good amount of superfat counteracts the "drying," that is, cleansing effect. I promise you they feel great on the skin.
