Hi, soap calculators are only as good as the programmers. That wrote them. And the information they were given to work with. So they will all have similarities. But differences as well. I started with soapcalc. But now use soap makers friend. It works with my oils. Were ever I buy them.

Hi, rice bran oil, sunflower(ho) oil, are some you might look into. I like both, but rice bran is not very common. In my neck of the woods.

Is sugar necessary when using AVJ. I use 100% AVJ as water replacement. And lack of lather or bubbles has never been a complaint.

Slowing down is one thing. Not using glass, even Pyrex. To mix lye solutions. Would have prevented this all together. Glad you did not get hurt.

yes, I do it all the time. with no ill effects. I have scorched milk. (in the past) When mixing with lye. But I use powdered form now. So have not seen/had any problems.
