    Ultimate Guide to Liquid Soap

Yes, she has a dish soap recipe, but it's pretty much what you'd expect if you know anything about making a solid dish soap bar, or a laundry soap. Still, if you are interested in getting into liquid soapmaking, this book is a great resource. She has information about how the different oils...

Questions about a video I found for tranparent soap

Here is a much better video and recipe. Just know that making transparent soap from scratch is a rather involved process with lots of ingredients - much harder than making regular CP soap. Speaking of which, have you checked out this thread? It explains the basic soapmaking process.

    How to increase soap lather?

I do pretty much as @Mobjack Bay described, above. You can also increase lather by decreasing your super-fat; using a chelator (especially if your water is hard); or increasing the “bubbly” oils, which include coconut, babassu, and palm kernel oil (not palm oil, palm fruit oil, or palm olein).

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Yay, you did it!! See, not so bad, eh? Next up is solid conditioner bars (for Mrs. Zing, obviously). They are pretty much the same as lotion bars, but slightly different ingredients. You probably have most of them already, so get right on that, will ya? ;)

100% Coconut oil soap takes a long time to thicken.

Her water ratio is 2:1 which is well within the normal range. I agree with DeeAnna that this probably had more to do with the temperature of the lye and oils. Low temps and hand-stirring mean that it will take a long time to emulsify.

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

I can definitely smell the O+ in my unscented lotion. Haven't tried Liquid Germall Plus but you can definitely use it. I typically check Humblebee and Me, or the seller, to find the correct usage rate, since it is different than the O+ usage rate. Just adjust the water percentage for the...

    are shampoo bars difficult?

@Zing I find it very easy - easier than making soap or lotion. It sounds like you purchased individual ingredients, and not the premade base from Stephensons; is that correct? For individual ingredients, just measure, stir, and melt until homogenized. I melt mine in the microwave, starting...

That's weird. @Relle can you fix this?

I don't know about THE way, but it sure is my way, and I refuse to be shamed over it. Sloppy soapers, unite!

What soapy thing have you done today?

Yes, you should always do that, actually. Lye is a water hog; once added, it makes dissolving anything else very difficult. But your soap looks great, so well done!

    Cream liquid hand soap

Fractionated coconut oil in soap is even more stripping to the skin than regular coconut oil. So no, I wouldn’t use it for liquid soap. It’s great in lotions, though. You can achieve a more creamy-looking liquid soap by using fats that don’t produce a clear LS, such as lard, tallow, and some of...

@GuacamoleSalad another good place for recipes is HumblebeeandMe.com. She has a beginner lotion series on YT that is really helpful, too.

    Lard LS

Oh to be sure, there is nothing wrong with using that low lye concentration - and it does make for quick dilution! I was just responding to your question about why the paste was different than previous batches. My understanding was that you had previously used HP for this recipe, and were trying...
