Are Lauric and Myristic acids still drying in liquid soap?

Oh goodness. My previous suggestion was to add a KOH solution, that is, KOH that has been dissolved in water. Normally that is added a few drops at a time until the soap clears. Next time, try that instead of adding dry KOH flakes. Thankfully you did add more water, so hopefully that dissolved...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Sure looks like it is! But since this is actually a neighboring church that allows us to use their fellowship hall, they might get a little peeved if it isn't there after we pack out.

    Kids Cold Process Soap

You can reconstitute the milk powder with water and use that as a 100% water replacement. I've not had coconut milk scorch when adding NaOH, but others have, so you'd probably want the coconut milk to be at least cold from the fridge to keep the temps down. A drawback to this, especially for new...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

I delivered my products to the lady in charge of setting up this year's Christmas boutique. You can see them on the left in the tall wood shelving. Lots of talent reflected across these tables!

Zanys no slime castile with 5% KOH

Sounds good! My good friend's favorite soap ever is ZNSB made with 80% OO, 20% PKO, goat milk (powder), and sorbitol. I am not an OO-soap lover, but even I think it is decent. I may have to try it with dual lye just to see what all the fuss is about. ;)

Need help on my percentages (receipe)

Hi there! I love making lotions and creams. :) I'm by no means an expert, but here are my thoughts. 1. I would skip the propylene glycol, soybean oil, and horsetail butter blend. Alternatively, use the butter blend in lieu of either the babassu or hemp, or both. 2. I've never heard of "aloe...

    Kids Cold Process Soap

That one looks great, Artemis! I haven't been able to find a 100% oatmeal version in my area; they all have additives that I'd rather not use. But I'll look more closely in the adult skincare aisles, and not just in the baby section. Thank you!

    Wrapping soaps with tissue?

Wow, what a great way to reuse this stuff! I have a few things on auto-delivery from Amazon and have been throwing it away. Thank you!!

    Kids Cold Process Soap

Hi there! This looks like a nice recipe to me. The only changes I'd make would be: 1. Use one milk powder or the other - there isn't much benefit to combining the two, as they will act similarly in the soap. Coconut milk would be vegan, if that's important to any of your users. 2. Don't use...

Making your own laundry detergent/stain remover, what would you use?

I did see the gelling, but that's still a very different texture than what I've seen with diluted NaOH soap, which is more of snotty strings and clumps that are sitting in a bunch of separated liquid - pretty much impossible to use for anything until you take a stickblender to it right before...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Since you bought it from Crafter's Choice, it is probably treated/processed. An easy way to tell is by the color. If it is green, it is almost certainly unprocessed. If it is blue, or grey-ish blue, it has been processed so that it is ready to use as-is. However, most folks take another step to...

Making your own laundry detergent/stain remover, what would you use?

I had wondered why she didn't just make a KOH liquid soap, instead of grating up NaOH bar soap and making it into a liquid. It sounds like she realized that this would be a much easier solution, with no grating required. I also wondered why her diluted bar soap didn't become snotty or clumpy...

Zanys no slime castile with 5% KOH

I've never heard that dual-lye soap reduces slime, only that it makes the soap more soluble, which makes it easier to create lather. I suppose the first (reduced slime) could be a side effect of the second (greater solubility)?

    How to increase soap lather?

I agree with Dibbles, the powder dissolves so easily and is so much less expensive. I either include mine in my lye masterbatch, or dissolve it in a little extra batch water.

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Oh yes, that is the main reason I procrastinate with making shower steamers. My handpress machine works so much better to make pucks like the ones you showed... they just aren't as pretty or as small. I suppose I could get a small mold for my press machine and try that. LOL always something more...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Love those tubes! For my shower steamers, I use the smallest mooncake presses. If I fill the press completely, the steamer will last for two showers. If I fill it half-way, it lasts for just one shower.

Making your own laundry detergent/stain remover, what would you use?

I used a couple of different premade ones off the grocery store shelf, like Oxyclean.

Making your own laundry detergent/stain remover, what would you use?

It’s possible that the d-limonene increases the color fade, but I have had straight CO bars without any d-limonene cause light spots on both red and black t-shirts.
