    Hard water

That's not too insane as salt is pretty cleansing and is good for exfoliation.

All my soap in complete DOS help!!

Rice bran oil is prone to rancidity, but I'm curious as to how much of it did you use? was it over 20%? Another soaper on this thread (post #4) used it as 15-20% of the total oils used with no problems. I'll apologize for not being much help (I never used RBO), but the only helpful thing I can...

    Minty minty minty!

I think I have that EO as well. I haven't gotten around to using it, but it really does smell like root beer. I guess I could play around with your idea... :-)

You're welcome. If you can, post some pics of the finished product. :)

What soapy thing have you done today?

I finally tried my lard soap I made with some Chloe FO from SOS. I love the in-shower feel, but I kinda regret adding the FO. It smells good and all, but I like being able to use the same soap to bathe with on my face (I bet it would've been heavenly). On the upside, I know that lard is a good...

    Rosebuds

This link should help you out. I never used petals, so I really can't say much: http://www.soapmakingforum.com/showthread.php?t=46879&highlight=purple+veins

I finished this one last week...

The first thing that popped into my head was "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..." Beautiful soaps, bwt. :D

    Minty minty minty!

Please be careful of the wintergreen EO. Other than that, some peppermint EOs smell like candy while others smell more herbaceous. I know the peppermint EOs from NOW and Bulk Apothecary has a more candy-like scent than the peppermint from SOS. Bulk Apothecary also has a spearmint that smells...

Fragrance Oils Type (Can I buy from an Incense and Oils Guy)

Sounds like some entrepreneurs I encountered before. Their oils are are likely cut with another ingredient (dpg I think) so it may not be a good idea to use them for soap making. It would be better to buy the oil from a reputable FO store that sells the oils wholesale. @Seawolf: I have a...

"A Little Sexy" or a soft rose FO for Grandma

SOS had many different versions of Red dupes, but this one actually has reviews. There is also Midwest Fragrance Company, but I don't know anything about them. I can't seem to post a direct link, but this page has the dupe...

    A Question of Manners?

To accept the proposal would not be rude in anyway. It's ultimately about making a profit and you may get a few fans because you are making your profit with your passion: soaps & body products. Many people are like Booko & cmzaha (myself included :)) and will be more interested in the booth that...

Castor Oil types - is this type alright?

I have the home health brand, though I got mine form Whole Foods. It's not bad to use, but I agree with Susie and suggest getting the one that is 100% castor oil. It would be even better if the cheaper one fits the bill. :)

    Pigment powders

Mixing colorants into a lye solution may alter the color of the finished soap. I only made one soap with an oxide and I found that adding the oxide to the lye solution will make it turn green (it was a black oxide). The soap is a greenish grey to this day, though I have nothing against it...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Despite being a Christmas soap, it looks a lot more like a proper Hollow's Eve soap! :) I love it.

    Embarrassed to ask......

Lord, forgive me... adameve.com has one or two that are organic. I think they have the ingredients posted in the description if you want to study up on it.

    Sharing an EO recipe

What you listed sounds similar to what I started out with a few years back. Lavender/tea tree smell good (imo) and is great in a facial spray. They can also be blended with the citrus oils (lavender/lemon or tea tree/ orange). Here some other thoughts: lavender/lemon/eucalyptus lavender/tea...

Why is Dr Bronner Baby Mild so soft

Edit: I looked at the ingredients on the website after reading Susie's post. I doubt Dr Bronners uses more lye than any of the other oils (KOH was the second ingredient listed. With that, they probably use a lot more OO in their soaps.

Even if you have two or three, it's possible to make a nice blend with those. What scents do you have?
