    Hello and a question

Hi Nick and welcome :) Just thinking about your liquid SLS, you could use this to make a shower gel or shampoo. I would team it with some cocomidopropyl betaine to make it milder and dilute with water - remember you would need a preservative in a water based product though. Have a look at...

    Some new soaps

Aw thank you for your nice comments everyone :) Splendor - I missed out on making a soap on time for the ebru challenge this month but still wanted to try the technique - I really like it and actually it wasn't too difficult to do in that particular pattern. Not ally - I'm looking forward to...

    First lotion bars

I don't use beeswax in mine but they are pretty solid! I just use a combination if cocoa, mango and/or shea butter though no liquid oils. I always think of products with beeswax as having more of a 'balm' type feel to them but maybe that's just me!

    Thin body butter

If it's warm I would think it's the coconut oil melting making it soft. If you want a firmer butter I would up the shea butter and lower the coconut oil. My favourite body butter recipe is 75% shea butter, 20% macademia oil, 4% ipm and 1% EO. I find it pretty firm but spreads nicely on contact...

What type of soaper are you? (humor thread)

Veggie/scenter/colourist/latherist. And yes 10 minute tracer seems way too long for me - give me 1 or 2 minutes!

    Product help please

Cocomidopropyl betaine is a surfactant - which could be used in shampoo, showed gel, bubble bath etc. It does need to be used with other surfactants though to produce a good stable lather, e.g. cocomidopropyl glucoside, lauryl glucoside, SLS. I've never used olivem 300 - a quick search...

So...I tried my 100% CO bar

At first i found these quite harsh - then after a longer cure they came good! I think it was after about 10 weeks. Still very cleansing but much much milder. Lovely big bubbles! I also find they take scent and colour really well.

    Ebru Technique Soap Challenge

I really like the pattern on the first one - shame about the discolouration as your original colours were lovely! And the little hummingbird is cute cute cute!

Lavender EO in CP-- does it die or just weaken?

I find lavender EO lasts pretty well in my CP soap. I use it at around 2% of my oil weight. Or in a blend with clary sage is really nice and long lasting!

What soapy thing have you done today?

I've just finished packing up some gift bags for friends' birthdays. Including my mini dessert soaps from last months challenge and a favourite rose and geranium soap - tonight I made shampoo bars, conditioner, bath salts and lip glosses to add to the gifts. Phew - time for bed now!

Polawax & Liquid Germall plus in Europe ??

Polawax is available from Aroma-Zone which is based in France. They have a really wide range of emulsifiers, I'm currently working through testing some of them in lotions etc. They actually do free delivery to some countries in Europe - always a bonus!

    SLS vs SLES

There is lots of info on swift crafty monkey blog about this topic so that might be a good and reliable place for you to start reading. Although I'm not sure why either would be a concern in a room spray as the main issue I'm aware of with both is skin irritation.
