    Reheat Lye?

I purposely soap at lower temps to be able to achieve more time consuming designs due to acceleration of trace when too hot. I will leave for work sometimes 8-10 hours at a time.

    CP Gel?

I gel all my soaps. I use a heating pad for 30minutes and then either wrap with a towel OR take everything off even the lid and allow it to air. I will do that if I see the heating pad has caused it to really heat up. I have recently gotten glycerine rivers (another subject) and cracking in the...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made some soap with a new fragrance called mountain lakes. It smells beautiful! It traces very quickly. I was trying to a different swirl pattern but I had to abandon that idea and end up plopping all 4 colors in. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised when I cut into it tomorrow. It is...

Possible reaction to lye? Anyone else have this irritating issue?

You can become allergic to anything. It is very possible, but probably not in your case.

Possible reaction to lye? Anyone else have this irritating issue?

I dont soap with a mask, but everything else I take the same precautions. Yes you can have an allergy to lye. If you end up having a true allergy realize that every exposure can become worse... worse being anaphylactic reaction. I would keep benadryl on hand, just in case you start to get hives...

    Ever changed soaping locations??

My new husband and I were talking...when we have a baby we might start looking for a new house. I have always wanted a 1920s Spanish colonial home and they almost always have guests houses on the premises. If I am so lucky, I dream of turning something like that into a soap workshop, until then...

    Organizing and storage

I have a huge linen closet with many shelves that I keep all oils, bars of soaps and other products that I make. I keep the fragrances on the two bottom shelves and then I label them with round stickers on top of the bottles. I label them so if I look down I can see everything verses having to...

Natures Garden scents: Its a Hippy Christmas and Fresh Linen are both nice and soap well. Do not get: Honey Dew Melon. It smells like vomit with a slight tinge of melon. I keep walking by my soap and think something has spoiled. I soaped with it twice with different recipes and both smell...

    Frozen with indecision

I was thinking... just start getting things ready and I am sure it will come to you. I have many times abandoned my ideas at last moment and come up with something totally different. Let the soap speak to you. ;)
