Olive Oil Soap Factory in Syria

Sadly, I have to question whether that's the case. In another story I read that soap is being dropped as part of relief cargo. Bombed factories, bet there's a lot of beautiful soap ruined under the wrechage :(

Olive Oil Soap Factory in Syria

So sad. This is from 2014, but a grim outlook. http://www.oliveoiltimes.com/olive-oil-basics/among-casualties-aleppo-ancient-olive-oil-soap/42868

Are any of you cord cutters?

lionprincess, you are resourceful and amazing! I want you nearby should we ever all have to run for the hills, soaping gear in backpacks :)

    First ever cold process underway.

Wait a sec, so you make and sell soap to aid rescue dogs? That's wonderful! If this is your first batch of CP though, have you been making and selling MP? I hope so, because if you're advertising CP that would be a reallllllly, realllllly bad idea, as many of us experienced soapers will chime...

Are any of you cord cutters?

I don't watch anything that's not streaming on my Roku, get my news from the web and the radio. Totally happy with Netflix and Amazon Prime, catching up on series I've wanted to watch for years (while I do things like cut tussah silk, baste dog sweaters, fill microwavable neck warmers with feed...

    Random Acts Of Kindness

You're obviously a giver and a natural caretaker. Elders, neighbors, kids, you're a port in the storm, sounds like. And how wonderful that what you have given has come back to you in an unexpected gift! I have no doubt that will continue to happen. See, the good guys win :)

A bunch of stuff for sale...

I just got my package today, DELIGHTED, as I was last time. Everything carefully packaged, no leakage, spillage, breakage, all in perfect condition and exactly as described. I adore the mini chalkboards, can't wait for market time! (Sorry gang, I scarfed em all up.) Happy dance :)

What soapy thing have you done today?

Made a batch each of lemongrass/litsea and lavender/clary sage, both soleseife. So far very pretty, CPOPing in the oven :)

Citrus Grandis Seed Extract / Grapefruit Seed Antibacterial Soap

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your last question, but are you saying you want to use triclosan, and if so, why? Crest has removed it from its ingredients, Europe banned it five years ago, Minnesota banned it a couple years ago, and the FDA is investigating it further after non-industry research has...

Stunning safari art! And unique in that it is beautifully scented art, I'm sure. Admire your creativity and eye!

    Avocado Oil - 18mo old

Let's see. A brand-new member with only a handful of posts that sound like ads for whatever avocado oil industry or company, specifically this one: "Avohaus Extra Virgin Avocado Oil from New Zealand, a non-GMO country!!" Wordsmithing, since I'm on a roll tonight with that. "EVAO is NOT refined...

    Avocado Oil - 18mo old

Ahem, wavyca, you sound like an advertisement. What stake do you have in this thread? Actually, you sound like the Creature from the avocado lagoon! Not a pretty picture ;)

Apropos of nothing but lard and acyrologia

OK gang, Ms. Cranky rearing her ornery head again. Acyrologia, what's that? Gotta be some new sabaconifrying term. My clientele is mostly vegan, uppityscale, larding it over the rest of us. I swear I'm beginning to get an inferiority complexion with all the praises of lard, tallowed be thy...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Oh man, sorry to hear this, lemongrass is usually so well-behaved. I've had no problems, been pleased with, and no industrial stinkage from their Lavender 40/20 (though hated the French lavender), Rosemary, Eucalyptus and Tea Tree. Plan to reorder the Lav 40/20 soon. Have used up a few others...

    Coconut milk with xanthan gum

I can only get canned coconut milk locally, containing coconut milk, water and guar gum. It's a thickening agent used extensively in the food industry. I use Thai Kitchen brand from Asian grocery section. There are cheaper brands in the Hispanic grocery sections, but with more additives. I've...

    GM Soap in Oven

IrishLass makes a good point about the quality of the silicone. I've never had a blister with my Brambleberry molds, and that's all I use. And yes, the method you describe is CPOP. I like it because the soap hardens faster, meaning my molds aren't tied up waiting days to unmold and I can get...

    GM Soap in Oven

I CPOP everything, have never had a problem even though my oven only goes down to 170 degrees F. I preheat, turn oven off, put soap in, leave overnight or all day. I use BB silicone single cavity molds. They don't last forever, but that's fine with me, I love CPOP. Unmold soap in a few days...

    Stick blender or not?

I use the one on the right. It's an OXO, stainless that hasn't rusted in over two years of frequent use. The middle one I use for cooking. The one on the left is a worthless grocery store one, supposed be stainless but these rust within a couple of months.

    Stick blender or not?

I don't remember the last time I used my stick blender. Instead I use a really good whisk with at least 24 blades (sorry, trying to count made me dizzy). I use a lot of additives in my liquid (milk, salt, sugar, clay, silk) and getting to trace doesn't take much time even without any...

    Really?

Good point about UPS truck drivers and packing, JPicasso, I hadn't thought of that. I know how hard the UPS and FedEx drivers in my area work anyway, they really work hard and long hours...
