    Zany's no slime castile

More Zany’s soap made with Sam’s club OO EVOO on the right, mild OO on the left. 30 hours old. Made at the exact same time under the same conditions, I measured everything to the gram. 30 hours is too long in the mold, I should have cut at 12-18 hours. The soap at 30 hours is slightly brittle...

    Zany's no slime castile

The difference between EOO and Pomace. 3 days in Pomace is still a bit soft, EOO is almost brittle.

Pics of Pomace vs EOO Zany's No Slime recipe

I have been experimenting with Zany's No Slime Castile and wanted to share my photos. The soap on the right is Sams Club EOO, on the left Pomace. I did not run through a soap calculator to compensate for the difference in oils. After 3 days the pomace was a little tacky, the EOO, very hard. I...

What OO do you use for your soap?

Try Zany's no slime castile. I tried it last week, super easy recipe- white bars. I force gel, so I was able to cut in 18 hours. I'm super excited to try it in a week.

What OO do you use for your soap?

I have a lard, Coconut Oil, Pomice olive oil and Grapeseed oil recipe that takes a month of Sundays to come to trace. The only additive that makes it accelerate is TD. I use the heat transfer method and most of the time I mix my hard oil/lye mixture and my liquid oils with a wisk and let the...

    Zany's no slime castile cont.

When making this soap. Can I blend to emulsion and then pour in my mold and wait for it to set up? Or do I have to SB to light trace? I plan on a plain jane to start with. No FO, colorant or swirl.

    Analyzing soap performance

I always buy others soap when I can. I keep the label to analyze the recipe. I look for things different in the performance than mine. I have very oily skin, so I’m really not the best judge.

    Lard vs Shortening

I was thinking after I sent my post, that I'm using Pumice and not EVOO. Could be the reason I'm fighting for white. The OO and CO came out out the same containers. I'm thinking it's darker because I use Pomace OO and not EV OO No FO, Distilled water from same gallon container. It's weird ...

    Lard vs Shortening

I have been using lard as the primary ingredient in my soap. I wanted to try a vegan variety so I opted for Walmart all vegetable shortening. I was amazed at the difference in the color of the soap. (Shortening on the top, Lard on the bottom) The bubbly soap is the shortening soap. I use the...

    gel phase invention needed

I have cardboard box, I place my loafs in and cover with a blanket and one of those emergency heat blankets. Tuck all the sides in good. My soap is usually still warm 8 hours later. I never get partial gel. I bought the blanket in the camping section of Walmart for 4-5 bucks. It’s almost like a...

    Lard and Tallow

    Lard and Tallow

My lard bars are 45% lard, 35% OO, 10%CO and 10% Grapeseed Oil, 7% SF. They make a luxurious Creamy lather.

    Thick trace

I interchange Pomace and regular OO all the time with no difference.

    Thick trace

It's all about experience, Keep at it. When I first started I used a laser thermometer and I kept track of the temps and made sure the oils and lye were within 10 degrees. Now I use the heat transfer method and no thermometer at all. I know what I'm looking for. Add your FO, goats milk and...
