The "One Recipe" Theory - Question

Most all do. You can check the zipcode for pick up on the site. Like I said it's in the bathroom repair aisle where you would buy a toilet seat, but it won't be in the cleaning aisle with the other drain openers.

CP Breaks off when cutting them. Why?

I had a fragrance oil cause this just couple weeks ago. Peony 424 from WSP. Same exact recipe I've used at least 6 times before turned out perfect, but with this fragrance oil soap got hard and crumbled when cut. That peony soap also reminds me of hard chalk and doesn't zap. I ended up grating...

The "One Recipe" Theory - Question

Walmart carries 100% lye, it's in the bathroom repair aisle. It's not the most economic in terms of cost but it does make nice soap. Instant Power Crystal Lye Drain Opener, 16 oz - Walmart.com

    Lard

They probably filter out bits/chunks that are not fat. I'm sure in large rendering plants more than just the fat is tossed in. Manteca is spanish for fat. I know Armour says manteca on it but it can be any fat not just pig fat. I was just talking to my friend from Costa Rica the other day...

    Lard

What's wrong with refined? As a matter of fact that brand posted (BHT only) has less additives than Armour (BHT, propyl gellate and citric acid).

The "One Recipe" Theory - Question

I've been making soap since November and have made so many different recipes in that time. I usually use the soap for the first time within the week just to see the lather and feel. I have a soap dish filled with soap slices. I know which each are from the design and noted the design on the...

    Curdled LS after salting

I would think that you could make more LS and mix them together to reduce the salt concentration. Could you post a picture, I am curious to what curdled LS looks like :)

The "One Recipe" Theory - Question

You can't just trust everyone recipes online. I agree with others about using the lye calc. My recipes have become my own and I can change oils in and out as I like to accommodate how I want the end soap to be. Each oil require a different amount of lye. It seems to me your problems (soap not...

    Question about Colorants

Are you using darker oils, honey or other things that can discolor? Today I made my project to be making color pucks, each color used at 1 tsp PPO usage. This way I know when I make my soap what each color looks like at 1 tsp PPO. Because each puck was 1 ounce each I did 1 tsp mica in a...

    keeping mica color vibrant

Make sure you are using at the suggested rate. Nurture does have a midnight blue but I have never used it. I did purchase form them Dark Navy Blue and usage rate is suggested at 2 tsp PPO. First time I used it I tried at 1 tsp PPO just to see how it looked and it was more grey than blue. Since...

    Wild Sourdough

Sourdough needs long fermentation to be actual sourdough. I have never made bread in a bread machine so I don't really know if it has that option. I always kill my mother so I always put some in a ziploc bag and throw it into the freezer to get quick start the next time I want to make bread.

Why did my batter thicken quickly? (not false trace!)

I think the shea causes acceleration because of the stearic acid. That might be why.

VCS - Virginia Candle Supply - VA Candle Recommendations

Love Spell from them sticks, does not accelerate trace. I wrap all my soaps after 4 weeks but the end pieces I leave laying bare on a shelf to smell every so often, it shows no sign of losing scent right now. It's at 4 months.
