difficulty removing soap from molds/high altitude effects

Love Milky Way molds, but hate unmolding from them. I've warped some of them, trying to gel my soap with a heating pad underneath, hoping that if they were gelled, they'd pop out easier. I still don't use them often, but here's what works for me. I add sodium lactate, one teaspoon per pound of...

    A little gold swirl

Artemis, if someone as swirl challenged as myself can do it, anyone can! This mica swirl on top is really one of the easiest to do. :)

Know any last minute quick Oktobfest recipes?

I haven't personally made any of these, but a quick look has my mouth watering. Quite a few of them look pretty easy/fast, too. https://www.pinterest.com/explore/german-appetizers/?lp=true

    Lye safety .... again.

From my own personal experience...if I get a lye granule or two on my skin, I brush it off, and wash my skin under the faucet. If I get soap batter on my skin, I continue pouring into the mold, and when I'm done, I wash the batter off my skin under the faucet. Soap batter causes a burning...

    Why make soap?

For me, handmade soap is a no brainer. Years ago, as I entered my 50s, my skin was dry and flaky. I used Dove, and moisturized like crazy, sometimes desperately even with petroleum jelly, because my face just couldn't seem to get enough moisture. And still, my face was dry. When a friend of mine...

If you need a good laugh...

mommycarlson, the mess wasn't mine, thank goodness! That was a review of the Roomba on Amazon. And apparently not the only time it has happened. There are quite a few pictures on the review page of Roombas that have attempted to clean up dog/cat poop. Luckily for the writer, he had a good sense...

    Stinky dog dilemma

As long as he only stinks for a few minutes after being in the warmth of the sun, it's no biggie. I was curious more than anything. And being a little guy, there's much less stink than there must have been from your staffy/lab. But you know that no matter how much they stink...we love them...

    lavender Eucalyptus Soap?

Well, the carpet underneath the seat could probably be considered to be plastic, but the paper towels have only the few drops from the bottom of the emptied bottle, so it's not enough to transfer. No holes in the carpet yet, anyway! :)

    lavender Eucalyptus Soap?

Lavender is a surprisingly good blender. It goes well with scents you'd never imagine it would. I always drain the very last drops from my "empty" FO bottles onto a paper towel, and then put the paper towel in my drawers, closet, suitcase, under the seat of my car...you get the idea. Sometimes...
